Another beautiful model from you.  That nose gear, though, looks to be perfectly placed to kick all sorts of FOD into the inlet.  is there anything on how the designers planned to deal with that problem?

1/72 for the kit:

and this one in 1/32 but it's just a one-off

but I'd only have to mod the 1/72 files to 150%....

as for the question of the FOD collector, I mean the ventral intake...

So effin' cool. The RCAF would like one as well.

BTW you used the right scale Les. Don't get distracted with those other requests. Stay focused.  8)

The CAC XP-65 was to be largely stainless steel construction and powered by a RA24R Avon series engine.  Span was 7.3m, length was 14.3m.

I thought it was resin cast. Looks great! Makes me think of something Tophe would design is it were somehow asymmetrical.

The masters are, the production versions are a combination of resin cast and 3D printed parts. https://www.facebook.com/uncleles1/posts/3272489716203619

Then let's try just drilling down to the urls:

Those are the 3D masters, the kit is cast resin for the most part with u/c & cockpit 3D resin.

Little Sharpy McPointPoint is fast becoming Shiny McPointGloss

The 1/32 version is nearing the point of decision as to what the scheme will be given some new data that came to light.

I don't but one possibility is trying to contact him through Alternative History: http://alternathistory.com/members/p_d_m/

p_d_m seems to have disappeared from both Dreamwidth and Live Journal. Apparently he lives/lived in Samara ... but that's not very helpful without an actual name  :(

He does have an fbook account. No recent activity there either but he might respond to Messages.

Yep - that's him. The signature is the same.  I'll endeavour to get through to him. Thanks for that.
Meanwhile, the 1/32 version I'm making will be inspired by one of these...

Additional:  Apophenia, you have stirred up the proverbial hornet's nest within me with the revelation of that site...  lordy lordy lordy..   the right-clicks are plentiful and I fear I'll be staying up later than intended draughting up some 3D versions of what I'm looking at now ! http://alternathistory.com/alternativnyj-istrebitel-cac-ca-29-thylacine-avstraliya/

Quite a bit of information on the CAC XP-65 in Keith Meggs' new "Australian-built Aircraft and the Industry Volume 2" including cutaway drawings and performance stats.  It was planned to build almost entirely from stainless steel and was proposed to be capable of Mach 2 interceptions (though the airframe was actually structurally limited to Mach 3.7).  Interestingly from the model building perspective, the cockpit was essentially identical to the CAC Sabre as was the ejection seat.

Interesting. The little I've read hasn't said much favourable about the CAC Sabre ejection seats ... but good for commonality. Having the same cockpit layout is brilliant for training and spares

uncle les: Glad that was useful.

As for the Alternative History website, yes - A Warning to All - a visit there has the potential to chew up your whole day  :o
