Another beautiful model from you.  That nose gear, though, looks to be perfectly placed to kick all sorts of FOD into the inlet.  is there anything on how the designers planned to deal with that problem?

1/72 for the kit:

and this one in 1/32 but it's just a one-off

but I'd only have to mod the 1/72 files to 150%....

as for the question of the FOD collector, I mean the ventral intake...

The CAC XP-65 was to be largely stainless steel construction and powered by a RA24R Avon series engine.  Span was 7.3m, length was 14.3m.

The 1/32 version is nearing the point of decision as to what the scheme will be given some new data that came to light.

p_d_m seems to have disappeared from both Dreamwidth and Live Journal. Apparently he lives/lived in Samara ... but that's not very helpful without an actual name  :(

He does have an fbook account. No recent activity there either but he might respond to Messages.

Quite a bit of information on the CAC XP-65 in Keith Meggs' new "Australian-built Aircraft and the Industry Volume 2" including cutaway drawings and performance stats.  It was planned to build almost entirely from stainless steel and was proposed to be capable of Mach 2 interceptions (though the airframe was actually structurally limited to Mach 3.7).  Interestingly from the model building perspective, the cockpit was essentially identical to the CAC Sabre as was the ejection seat.

Interesting. The little I've read hasn't said much favourable about the CAC Sabre ejection seats ... but good for commonality. Having the same cockpit layout is brilliant for training and spares

It's the Jindivik you have when you find remote control a bore and seated on an orange crate in a Pika just won't cut it.

In other news, I've successfully made contact with p_d_m and have his blessing on using his artwork.

I don't think you are wrong, with that much mass on the wingtips, twisting and turning in a dogfight is problematic at best.  It strikes me as somewhat the equivalent of the F-104, a great interceptor but not a great dogfighter.

Perhaps the XP-65 "Warrior" would have been a tad more spritely than the Jindivik/Pika... ;)

The first iteration won't as it's the prototype.   But as we progress and explore other variants I'll be looking at what's required.  The pylons seen on the 1/32 version here are taken from the Revell Mirage kit ( I have a couple or twelve in the stash ! )
I'm calling it the Irabinna being an indigenous word for "Warrior"
I'm thinking I might have to change the nomenclature for production versions to "CA-28" or similar after the prototype XP-65 gains its certificates !
