Go to your local library and look for Norman Friedman's Illustrated Design History series.  Volumes include Aircraft Carriers, Battleships, Cruisers, Destroyers, Submarines (2 volumes), Small Combatants (PT boats and riverine craft), and Amphibious Vessels.  They are all choked full of line drawings, photos, more info then you ever wanted to know and most importantly design sketches/proposals for never built vessels!!!!  They're a treasure trove of ideas and a scratch builder's dream  8)  Feel free to discuss anything you find in them with me.

We tried figuring out what that was over on ModelWarships and I think the general consensus was it was several different ships but a Kara Class Cruiser sticks out as one of them in my mind.  If anyone wants to take a stab at it let me know and I'll dig up what we figured out.

It's clearly inspired by a Kara, but no Kara ever had 4 x quad SSN-14 boxes or 2 x twin 130mm up front!

The daft thing is that it's got a Kara's Headlights fire-control radar above the bridge, but no SA-N-3 for it to control. Also, if those missile quads are supposed to be AShMs, then there should be some kind of xxxx-dome fire-control radar above the bridge for them.

... and in a movie based on a comic-book about people with laser-eye blast, control of metal objects (ferrous or not) etc., etc.

It's all a complete fantasy, so why in hell would the tech detais of military hardware be required to be factually correct.

Weaver, look aft on the Kara.  There's a twin arm launcher for SA-N-1 or 3 back there by a twin 57mm  :)
