Puma with Leo1 A5 turret:
Apparently, this
Leopard 1A5-turreted ACV
Puma was a movie prop created by a company that rents out vehicles to film-makers. It is one of the three prototype hulls (I suspect PT1) built for Krauss Maffei's experimental use. The complete
Leo turret was far too heavy for the lightweight, 4 x roadwheeled hull so the turret interior has been largely stripped ... and attempts at weight-saving probably also explain the bobbed main gun.
Of course, the idea wasn't completely original. The ACV
Puma 'family' diagram in Greg's Reply #179 shows a
Puma-Panzerjäger 105 variant - ie: one fitted with a GIAT TK 105 turret on a medium weight, 5 x roadwheeled hull. But a later point, Krauss Maffei would also offer a
Leopard 1A5-turreted ACV
Puma variant. This concept being proved on a
Bundeswehr prototype (PM2).
Anyway, the ACV
Puma was a fascinating mash-up of
Leopard 1 suspension with a few
Leopard 2 parts ... making me wonder if
Marderman ever modeled it
