LAND ROVER 88 GROUPING OF NOMAD TROOPS
For many years, a classic of 1/35 scale modelling has been the Special Air Service (SAS) 'pink panther', operating alongside the Long Range Desert Group (LRDG) in North Africa during World War II.
However, we have almost forgotten that Spain had a similar unit, the Nomadic Troops Grouping, perhaps the most forgotten unit of a forgotten campaign.
The Grouping of Nomads of the Sahara Troops is constituted according to the rules set out in Instruction 1159-31 of the Sahara Sector Headquarters dated 30-XII-1959.
The Unit was declared as a "Special Troops" Unit by Decree 921/67 (D.O. 105).
The specific missions of this Grouping were the following:
Surveillance of the territory, especially border areas.
Collection of information.
Apprehending offenders and isolated suspects.
Persecution and destruction of parties of these evildoers, infiltrated and whose amount does not require immediate accountability for the achievement of the same using greater means.
Control, protection and assistance of nomadic tribes settled in the territory, with the presence of staff and confirmed in their camps or villages.
All that matters to an efficient police service in the field.
The project is to adapt the AK Interactive 88 short (ref. AK 355012) with various aftermarkers.
Sharing some photos of the documentation.
