1/72 FAA Fortess IV SAR Bird (ex SB-17G)

Folks:
I've acquired a Academy SB-17G which will enter the K-tel Whif-i-nator(TM) as a USAF SG-17G and come out as a FAA Fortress IV SAR bird.
To the best of my knowledge there are no 1/72 FAA decals for a B-17 hence my project.
My ask of the plastic encased Borg is what scale-a-rama decal size should I use? 1/48 or /132?
Thanks, Carl

I'd think you'd have better luck with the smaller scale, Carl. Especially if those FAA decals are for something like a Hellcat.
Looking forward to seeing this one!

What about using some Lancaster decals, these are coastal command though

Or Liberator ones

Thanks guys. I was thinking of these F6F FAA decal from Flightdecs:

I do have a "thing" for the FAA Roundel and bars. I think Pacific GSB and Rescue Yellow would look pretty sharp.
For the forum, Joe has a pretty good selection but sometimes he does not update his inventory status so ask first about stock.

be interested to see how this one turns out.
There is a whole lot of reasons to say this is sounding like a good idea for a build
SEAC FAA markings are a good idea as well to be a bit different

Umm, ahhh, ooohh, errrrr. I open the box again last week and held the fuselage in my hands. Does that count as progress?

Starting a Hasegawa 1/72nd B-17G tomorrow...it'll be a USN PB-1-ish for Biggles.
But I have 3 others also to be built...at least 2 will be RAF AEW aircraft.
