It does "just looks right somehow".
It does "looks flipping dangerous to get it back on deck ". Must be the one model of land based only fighter the Navy used.

Perhaps their successful use by China Lake in Sidewinder development persuaded the USN to purchase a few squadrons as interceptors defending their various NAS and MCAS establishments.
