Slow going here but I thought I should share where I'm at;

Overview of the two boats:


The generator (not really necessary on the boat but I thought I'd leave it as a "back-up") is a single piece of 3D printed resin:


Modifying the Mk.19 GL to an early configuration (ca. 1968) & mounting it to the original .50 cal mount at the stern took more effort than I'd hoped but worked better than expected:


I really do have to hit them with paint next, so I can get moving further, faster!  ::)

IIRC when the U.S.Navy mounted these on board ship the square trailer bit was not part of the gun mount.  It would have looked like the mount in the AFV Club M35 Gun Truck kit for reference. 

Other than that looking great!

@Jeff: I was thinking about that ... After I'd glued the base of the trailers to the foredecks.  :-X
          I'll just say that the RAM's bought trailer-mounted guns & decided to simply bolt the whole shebbang onto the decks.  ;)

Nice product placement  ;D

Looking the goods so far, the mounts for the Quads are nifty, but I see what you mean about the trailer mounts.
These PBR kits are a great build, fit is pretty good for the age of the kit.
My take on my build was a bit more stock in Vietnam, went the action shot, riding on the step.

Product placement is accidental, but most of those colours will find their way onto the build. ;)

OK, so it's stock Vietnam, but your PBR looks great! 8)

I knew the turret was going to be sitting too high but I was going to be lazy, Jeff just set of an argument between lazy-me & conscientious-me. The latter, with Jeff's comment to back him up, won. ;)

Hulls & superstructure (most of it, anyway) painted GREEN (Tamiya XF-58 Olive Green, to be precise) & canvassy bits painted a DIFFERENT GREEN (in this case SMS Premium Olive Drab [SCC No. 15]), with the lower hull painted a [very roughly] 50/50 custom mix of Tamiya XF-1 (Flat Black) & XF-69 (NATO Black).

A couple of small steps forward!  :smiley:







Touch-ups are required (later) & the bits between the boats need painting (maybe tomorrow) before I can start moving any further forward (with detail painting before throwing things together).  ;)

The rusted plate is AK rust effect paints stippled on in various layers, then some Vallejo liquid mask stippled on around the edges, & a mix of Tamiya XF-1 & XF-69 similar to that used for the lower hull, thinned out quite significantly (1:2-ish) with IPA, sprayed in thin layers until I was satisfied with the depth of colour (which still allows a bit of the rust colours to show through), &, finally, removing the liquid mask by rubbing with a ball of old liquid mask & tapping with masking tape to leave the exposed "rust" areas.

The quad turret is painted SMS "Light Green G5" (British WWII AFV), as is the shield & mount for the Mk.19



[Note: I'm mentioning all the paints for my own reference later, should I want to replicate something like this again, or do any touch-ups. ;) ]

Not sure any Australian RAM SSM would be terribly happy with a rust spot like that on one of "his" boats.

Decided I didn't like the Light Green G5 for the turret & Mk.19 mount & have gone with British Green (SSC No.7).

I'll put up photo's sometime in the next few days.
