As we all know the McDonnell Douglas A-4 Skyhawk had a long, eventful career with the Royal Navy. This model represents one of the last operated by the RN, an FG.6 (based on the A-4M) serving with the Fleet Requirements And Direction Unit as a simulated cruise missile target for shipboard defense training. This example wears full color roundels and has a splash of silver on the rudder to commemorate FRADU's 25th anniversary in 1997.
This was my first build competed after starting back at the bench a few weeks ago. Kit is a Hasegawa 1/48 A-4M. The kit was started a year ago so it was a pretty quick finish, but I just got around today to installing (cramming in!) a seat and pilot. Or at least the visible parts of a seat and pilot...surgery was. bit gruesome.

Can't remember where but I read that the UK conducted a study into an all Skyhawk air group for Hermes, verses the Sea Vixen and Scimitar / Buccaneer groups she actually operated. I can't recall the numbers but they could fit considerably more Skyhawks which calculated as more combat power.

Awesome work Nick!
Please post some of your other builds like the F-13B Raven.

I am giving up listing them. They all end up on the shelf of procrastination anyways.
