The rules...not that we are too worried
« on: March 24, 2020, 03:09:36 AM »
Hi folks,

This is just an informal group build of sorts.  The idea is to simply provide a place you can show any builds you do (physical models or otherwise) whilst dealing with the current COVID-19 Pandemic, be that in forced lockdown, self-isolation or other wise.  No rules otherwise...

All hail the God of Frustration!!!

Working from home but too busy to do anything but work  :(

There are backlogs on top of backlogs of stuff that no one has had the time to clear for over two years and now poor dumb me is at home with access to the appropriate systems I'm backlog clearing.

There is a certain serentiy in finally finding the "round tuits".

All those small maintenance tasks will be done in a bit and then there will be time for modelling.

Yeah,  I and my team are all working from home right now but that doesn't free up any time for hobbies.

I'm now urgently trying to find if two particular mods have been fitted to two particular platforms, may be useful information if I'm ever modelling either, so I had better get on to it.

I would also like to re-assure members that the forum will remain open despite the COVID-19 situation.  We need to keep one small area of sanity (or is that insanity) open for members in these difficult times.  Forum hosting has been prepaid for many years ahead until the end of time (and even then a 2wk extension request will probably be made by someone...). ;)

I'm kind of fuzzy on the whole sanity/insanity distinction...but I will try taking the computer out to the shed a little more often...

I've been working from home since the start of the week - our little burg is not yet on 'stay at home' status, Austin, where I work ( about 60 km west of here. ) has been on lockdown since Thursday last. I don't miss the round trip every day, but working at home, and establishing a routine
is taking a bit of getting used to...

I've worked from home for around 18 years when I went self employed doing drafting. I have to admit, the first year or so was difficult to get accustom too (getting the routine down pat), but then it became second nature. Since the energy industries collapse around our parts though, I was more or less forced into retirement proper --- my intension was to part-retire/work. Fortunately, if we were to get quarantined/self-isolated, having a 5 acre acreage where the nearest neighbours are a mile away, there's plenty to keep me occupied around it.

As a diagnosed high functioning autistic person I am actually quite comfortable with the social distancing, in fact I found I am quite enjoying people not crowding me and bumping into me. It also amazes me how many things that make my life and my sons life (also on the spectrum), that were not possible only a month ago, are now becoming common place, i.e. working and studying remotely.

Arranged quotes on a proper home office and about to checkout buying an automatic coffee machine.

Indeed.  One of the hopefully positive things to come out of this is that people realise that somethings that weren't possible in the past actually are possible.

Indeed!!  The same to all the folks keeping things running in grocery stores, pharmacies, gas stations, et al.  And twice that to the truckers and other transportation workers keeping vital goods moving.

Found Im actually far more productive at home. I feel obligated to get as much or more done than in the office to prove I'm not bludging, but unlike in the office, if I feel tired  / fatigued, I get up and go for a walk in the garden, make a coffee, one day I even had a lunch time nap.  I'm working in productive bursts of a couple of hours bashing through work before taking a break, actually getting far more done.

If I need to do something non work, I just do it and make up time by completing a task after hours.  This is so much better.
