Ship weapon system question please
« on: September 09, 2017, 01:41:59 PM »
Gent's, I have a Ship weapon system question please!

In relation to my on-going 'Alternative ADF ORBAT', and its 1970.
The ship in my backstory will be equipped with two U.S. Mk13 Tartar/Standard SAM launchers, how many AN/SPG-51 fire-control radars would I need on my ship, to make it most effective? two? or four?

Also the same class of ship will be equipped with three OTO Melara 76 mm/62 caliber naval gun, its before 1978, so the Mark 92  fire-control system is out, so what fire-control radar was associated with the OTO Melara 76 mm/62 caliber naval gun in say 1970?
All I can seem to find is the RTN-10X Orion fire control system, but this looks like it came into service around 1973-74.
Does anyone know how many fire control systems I'll need to operate the three OTO Melara 76 mm/62 caliber naval gun most effectively?

Please excuse my ignorance, but failing this is/was there a fire-control system of the era that could handle both Tartar/Standard SAM and OTO Melara 76 mm/62??

Your assistance and input will be greatly appreciated.

My dear Greg, one might say its a derivative of a French-built class of two ships, which weighed in the vicinity of 32,780 tons and carried around forty aircraft and helicopters  ;) :P
