Ok sorry for the delay in updating this, having to do work stuff plus this scheme is really giving me grief!!
Ok first up I finished up all the little touch up bits, that was a simple painless task….compared to everything else!
Next up the wheel wells and nose were masked up and painted, plain black for the latter and aluminium then white for the former. I find using aluminium as a base for the white helps brighten it, plus helps if I want to weather/chip it.

Then a quick going over with some panel ink.
Once this was done a nice coat of gloss clear, I really needed this as the grey was a bit “soft” and I was worried it would rub off when sit on its belly.
Once this was done I add the undercarriage again to help protect the under surfaces. It’s starting to look even better now!

Ok decaling! This was hard, I think I spent nearly double what I paid for the model in search of the decals I needed! As you can see I now have more than enough to do any other aircraft the Israeli air force used or will ever plan to use!!

So if anyone needs some decal just let me know?
But did all these decals help….well no they just made it even more confusing.
This aircraft now appears to be different form the others, ok from photos of aircraft 52 & 57, so why? As the aircraft now resides in the Israeli Air Force museum in a scheme that is a wee bit different to her sisters.
So:
1, Now did the museum completely mess up the scheme and do something “sort of like it”, I sort of don’t think this is something Israelis would do. Though in two different photos (at different times) the thin blue line around the insignias disappears! In the latest photos it has disappeared! Plus they have added the “Bat” squadron insignia. (I was in luck with these as they appear to be period correct, a few of the profiles are wrong as they show a missile under the bat, this was used way after the meteors, plus there other issues that I could go on for hours about!).
2, Did the aircraft undergo some major maintenance later in its life and they modified the colour scheme? I could believe that…have seen that done. Plus it appears that the aircraft also has the later dark blue in the insignia, where as the Meteors (according to Isradecal) should have the lighter blue stars, this something unique to the Meteor. This would sort of make some sense but again I can find no reference.
3, Or finally this aircraft was originally different for some reason? You wouldn’t think so, but again there have been stranger things done to one individual aircraft.
Note there is actually another post I did on the main GB site which is just as long which goes into some the issues I have with this scheme and accuracy…which I won’t bore you with!
I won’t go into the issues I have with the size of the insignia either, this seem to vary quite a bit!
So with all this in mind and the Isradecal guide for #52 as a reference I am sort of going along with the #2 idea but with the earlier light blue insignias.

Well after all that…quite a few hours of reference searching the decals are on, not an easy task as I found them to be quite thick and non-user friendly. I probably won’t add the any of the smaller warning decals as I have no reference material as to what was on them and whether they were in Hebrew or English or both!
Well it’s done now and I’m not changing it…..even though I have now found a photo of #52 with the new dark blue insignias!
But she does look really nice! The cork is because I broke the landing gear!!
I now just have to give her a nice coat of clear matt. I will give her just a light weathering, maybe try to fade her down just a touch. But she’s intended to be refurb/museum refurb fresh. As painful as this scheme has been I do love the look of her.
Not too much to do before she’s done, this weekend and she’ll be finished….with luck!
