What if a government actually followed the recommendations of a major review, good or bad, that was ignored in real life.

Examples?

The Henderson Plan, or Jellicoe's recommendations for dominion defence.  Chauvel's post WWI plans for a standing army, Post WWII plans for RAAF army and RAN.  Equivalents from overseas.

Okay, recycling time (as opposed to "new suggestions") ...

I really liked the 'Missed by this much GB' concept ... but it could be expanded. Along with F-23 instead of F-22, it might include too-late-for-service types ... say, operational Spitefuls or Tempest IIs above the Rhine in 1946?

Other oldies but goodies were a 'World without Superpowers GB'; 'Engine Swaps'; 'Ploughshares into Swords GB'; 'Double 'Em/Halve 'Em GB'; and, going waaay back, 'Empire Lives On GB'.

Recycling is good.  In fact one option might be to do a "Recycle GB"

If by recycle you mean rebuilding previous models I’m all for it. I’ve quite a few derelicts that need attention.

That would qualify as would anything else that could be shown to link to the term - e.g. a build that referenced being recycled in the back story

The vast majority of my gb entries are just that. Very rarely use a new kit.
I use the term, pre-loved  ;)

That would get my vote

Another notion ... which may be a bit of a stretch ... what about a Maschinen Krieger GB?

That suggestion was inspired by Dr. YoKai's A couple of old MaK builds thread.

I've tried that - I have an old Aurora 1/48 Albatross WWI fighter from 1956 that's older than me. The plastic looks great, but it's very brittle. I put it aside for a time I have more patience.

I have a 1/350 Tamiya New Jersey that my parents gave me for my 18th birthday, started, but still not finished. During a move several years ago my wife saw it for the first time and assumed I had just bought it and hidden it from her  ;D

Same Name GB

Kitbash two different aircraft/ships/vehicles that have the same name.  A difficult challenge, but lots of possibilities.  Requires great creativity and whimsy.

Examples:

Curtiss Falcon with F-16 Fighting Falcon

CVN-65 Enterprise with NCC 1701 Enterprise

P-47 Thunderbolt with A-10 Thunderbolt II or SAAB Viggen (Swedish for 'Thunderbolt'), or AC3 Thunderbolt tank for the really ambitious

P-38 Lightning with F-35 Lightning II

Hawker Typhoon with Eurofighter Typhoon (or Typhoon submarine!)

SAAB Gripen (Griffon) with Heinkel He 177 Greif (Griffon)

P-51 Mustang with Ford Mustang?

North American AT-6 Texan with Beechcraft T-6 Texan II

I'm sure there are lots more possibilities for ground vehicles, ships, and spacecraft, but I don't have the expertise to list them.

Upgrades and life extensions taken to the ridiculous.

Think a refitted HMS Victory at Jutland, steam conversion, clad in the latest armour, modern guns and fire control.

An updated counterinsurgency DH-9A light bomber in Afghanistan in the 2010s.

A WWI tank modernised and fighting in Ukraine today.

My inspiration is Trump and wanting to bring back battleships, ordering new versions of old aircraft and insisting on dropping EMALs and returning to steam.

I’ve always thought about a nuclear powered Iowa class with rail guns or who knows what. Nuclear power would be much more than an upgrade but you know what I mean. I think Seadude has beaten me to it.
