I hope so too-  I chose a different colored LED for the masted building for that exact reason - contrast.
Not far now till it's finished - just waiting for the paint to dry on a couple of things then the base will be done and once the bridge comes in a couple of weeks, the ship'll be done too! Yay!
I just finished building the "pit" surround today and still requires painting, but I hope it'll look good in the colors I have in mind for it :)
Will post more either tomorrow or later in the week at completion.
Thanks again

Oh, while I think of it, this'll be an upcoming project: http://www.fantastic-plastic.com/PrometheusCatalogPage.htm

Outstanding work my friend. Your posts never cease to amaze me.  You are getting better and better.  I found on ,YouTube a SpaceBattleship Yomatto 2199 video which shows the ship as the former bad guy leader using it as his flagship. The top deck flipped over to reveal the weapons underneath. Yours looks much better !

 :-[ Thanks Ennis
Yeah, you have the option of having the deck guns flipped over but I prefer it as a deck - much more interesting

Well, the base is pretty much finished. The boarders are all on and look good (to me). I just need to spray on a flat coat, do a small amount of weathering to the pit surrounds and I’m calling it done.
I’ve been playing with the camera settings and I have finally got some decently exposed pics - all in focus (yay).  These will be more evident in the upcoming ship shots I took tonight
First up, the base:

Next up, the updated ship shots:

And that’s it now until it’s finished! Thanks for stopping in and having a look!
Kind regards

Thanks Brian
Im sorry for my delay in replying to you. Haven't done much web surfing lately.
I received my clear cast bridge on Tuesday night and it came out nicely. I was given two of them, but each one was unusable in its full form. One had a mark in the windows and the other had the tail snapped. So, I cut the front off the one with the snapped tail as it had the best front and cut the original pay in half in order for me to fuse the two sections together. It worked!
I'm waiting for the glue to dry and once it's dried, I will start painting.
I had too spend a large amount of time cutting individual masks out for each window and each window is 1mm wide. It was not fun. Because I don't trust the tapes holding power, I have given it a coat f future over the top to hold it in place and to prevent seepage. Hopefully, it works.
I would have had some pics to add but the camera batteries are both flat thanks to me leaving it switched  on all night recently. I'll add the last WIP shots in together with the final pics which will be hopefully posted this weekend.
Till then
Si

The Gamillian Empire was expanding aggressively, conquering low tech worlds and at the same time were fighting off a massive invasion from the Andromeda galaxy. They expanded much too fast and used too much force leaving them seriously overstretched and facing wide spread rebellion across their holdings. Eventually, the Empire began to crumble from within with the head of the Navy about to overthrow the Emperor in an attempt to make a much less fascist nation. By then though much too late to hold the Empire together.

On the Lesser Magellanic Cloud battlefront, Gamilla's forces were at their lowest. The last of the Gelvades Class Battle Carriers - the Shinigami was being patched back together for it's last fight at an old and once abandoned defense outpost. The ship that, while relatively 'new' in service, had seen so much action it was held together with duct tape and hope, facing an enemy they are gradually losing to in defense of an Empire that was falling apart several thousand light years away.....

Well, that's it. There are some decals to place on the deck, but they can wait and you won't notice the difference. The only sore point I have is the deck lighting isn't as strong as I would like it to have been brighter but at the same time, it also kind of works in my favor by staying in scale.
That's all for sci-fi from me for a little while - I have commenced my build of the mighty Trumpeter 1/35 BR-52 which will no doubt take me a VERY long time. After that, who knows - I may just come back with another of these fantastic Bandai 2199 kits - like the Dread Naught, Battleship or flagship. I haven't made up my mind yet :)

Thanks for watching everyone

See you around the boards

Nothing more to say then echo all the above.

How will it go... well I pretty sure it will do fairly well in its home Sci Fi category guaging against previous entries over the years.
This is at least equivelent if not a tad better than your Venator Destroyer that cleaned up a couple of years back.

I think in sheer terms of detailing, the Venator has it over this one for sure. Especially in build hours and the amount of strip styrene used!  ;D

This is an outstanding piece of work: I can't believe the amount of work you've put into the lighting, and I'd be proud to have made the base, never mind the ship. Hope ot gets what it deserves at Melbourne!  :)

Thanks guys, I appreciate it. I'm going to have to google what a honoverse ship is when I get some free time. In the future, I am going to scratch build a starship instead of just detailing a normal kit, but that won't be for a long time yet. To many projects and not enough bench time!

Honor-verse - the universe that goes with David Weber's mil-sf "Honor Harrington" series.  If you catch his collection, House of Steel in a bookstore, it includes depictions of several ships of the main two 'good guy" powers.  I freely admit to being a firm follower from the first book.  Mind you, most of his other sf&f work, at least that published by Baen Books, is also highly recommended.

I'll have to keep an eye out for that series - I love a good SF book.
My Google searches on those ships has given me some perspective on what they should be like. I think I could build something like that.
I have a few ideas for a scratch build - just need to find the extraordinary amount of time and resources to devote to such an endeavor
