Where do you get an engine for something like this? A new built replica of the original would be incredibly expensive. An old engine block would be extremely unlikely. A modern engine would cut into the meaning of the word replica. It’s like a “restored” Mustang that has 90% new pieces. Not that I’m complaining. Everyone likes to see these birds fly. I sound like Mr. Crabbypants but I’m perplexed by where the lines are drawn. Paramount, of course, is safety. No one wants these to crash and maybe get someone hurt so a modern engine would be best for that purpose. ...

"It is powered by a Rolls-Royce Continental four cylinder engine of 100hp. The greater power of the modern engine is cancelled out by the smaller, higher revving modern propeller which, perhaps surprisingly, does not provide the same thrust as the seemingly lower powered 1910 design."
https://www.shuttleworth.org/discover/collection/aircraft/bristol-boxkite-replica

At least that should make it easier to operate.
Sounds like they are using either an O200 or IO240.  The first is a Continental design built under license, the second is a Rolls Royce derivative of COntinental designs.  IO240 was originially ocnsidered for the Cessna 152 before management went with the Lycoming O235.

Crazy idea, how hard would it be to create a new aircraft similar in performance to WW2 fighters to send to Ukraine and other places to shoot down drones? Which could be done quicker, build the aircraft or train the pilots? I know there are ones like the PC-6 but aren’t they slower? I’ll do some checking.
Dumb things I think of late at night.

See below comparison between Shahed 136 drone, a bunch of late WW2 types and some of the modern turboprops.  Many/if not most of the latter can be armed with machine guns or cannon, wither in pods or in their wings (EMB-314) plus the latter could also be given APKWS guided rockets:

As you can see, you probably don't need the higher performance.

The Pilatus and Embraer along with their derivatives would clearly outperform the drones. They do need to be able to catch up to them on an intercept course and then get into position to shoot. That's where the superior performance would shine. I guess my question would is, could these aircraft do all this and still carry enough guns and ammunition to shoot down several drones on one sortie. Or is it time to break out the old drawings and start building MB5s, just with turboprop engines.  ;) ;D
I've already figured out recognition markings for Ukrainian ones. Then there would be the mini DEW line system to coordinate the intercepts. Although, I imagine most of this is in place by now.
I know this is probably impractical and some might say expensive but if you shoot down a cheap drone and save an expensive facility or piece of equipment or lives I think it would be worth it. But for now, it's some whiffing possibilities!
