The Pilatus and Embraer along with their derivatives would clearly outperform the drones. They do need to be able to catch up to them on an intercept course and then get into position to shoot. That's where the superior performance would shine. I guess my question would is, could these aircraft do all this and still carry enough guns and ammunition to shoot down several drones on one sortie. Or is it time to break out the old drawings and start building MB5s, just with turboprop engines.
I've already figured out recognition markings for Ukrainian ones. Then there would be the mini DEW line system to coordinate the intercepts. Although, I imagine most of this is in place by now.
I know this is probably impractical and some might say expensive but if you shoot down a cheap drone and save an expensive facility or piece of equipment or lives I think it would be worth it. But for now, it's some whiffing possibilities!
