M.A.D 'What If' Profile requests please
« on: October 22, 2012, 05:37:03 PM »
G'day gents
Long time no visit  :(

I'm not sure if this is in the right place, but if it isn't, I apologize in advance!!

I'm just putting out some requests for 'What If' Profile requests please

I've just finished reading a book about the fantastic Republic XF-12 Rainbow high speed, long-range photo reconnaissance aircraft. A beautiful design, which sadly was overshadowed by the end of WWII and the advent of the jet.

- My request to the forum members talent in art and profiling, to do a couple of "What If" specialised strike bomber version of the Republic XF-12 Rainbow?
If so could I request you incorporate a semi-recessed 12,000 Ib Tallboy earthquake bomb. Semi-recesed, so as to minimise aerodynamic drag and effect on the XF-12 fantastic speed.
I envisage this aircraft being employed by the USAAF to attack strategically important targets, which are heavily defended by enemy fighters and Flak, which would otherwise chew up conventional bomber formations of B-17, B-24 and even B-29's

Could I also request a 'What If' profile of the Israeli IAI Lavi in RAAF colours and markings

Thanks once again for your consideration

Maverick aka John Lacey at one time did some XF-12s for me.

Thiel: I have the Anigrand 1/72 kit. I can scan in some line diagrams from the instructions if that would help.
Work in progress ::

I am giving up listing them. They all end up on the shelf of procrastination anyways.

That would be great. The profiles available online are less than ideal to say the least

Glad to help. I'm flying for the rest of the day so my arms will be too tired to scan tonight.

What resolution would you like? Can you merge separate documents if required?

No issues with 200. I can go as high as 2400.

What format is best and what is your email provider attachment size limit.

me too please, Gimp.

I've already done 2 basic profiles (a USAF & RAAF one) but can easily redo them with better lines -- I prefer to scan line-drawings in b/w bitmap (300dpi) then clean them up & save as a png for posting in the profiles thread so that others can use them later too.

25mb I think. No need to go that large though.

Thanks. I did 300 DPI TIFF test and it's about 7 MB.

I'll send out when I get home later today.

Do you want it Gear up or Gear down? Oh and do you want any other modifications aside from the Tallboy?

If I could push the friendship, I would say both gear up (clean) and gear down, just so as to emphasis the size of the 12,000lb Tallboy!
Apart from the Tallboy, I was also thinking the VB-13 (ASM-A-1) Tarzon radio-guided variant of the Tallboy incorporated as a natural progression to give the Rainbow bomber version a better and more sensible stand-off range against heavily defended strategic targets over North Korea!

Thanks for your time and consideration

With gear.

You don't happen to have a drawing of the Tarzon? I realize it's a modified Tallboy, but I'd like to get the fins right.
