Getting closer to paint time! I’m thinking of Air Superiority Blue but darker colors.

Mine is the extended F3 with even more extension. F4 or something like that.



Lots of putty on this one. All the bits and pieces of plastic to fill the extended portions had to be evened out.



This is the paint scheme so far. I may keep the pattern but change the colors. Can't copy the Americans too closely!



I'm demolding the castings. the stuff from the previous white molds has come out well. The new red colored molds are curing very slowly. I got the pylons and the Storm Shadow out of the molds easily, but they are still tacky. The big mold with the 1/48th gas bag tail end is still very tacky. I'm leaving it in the mold for now, so it doesn't get messed up. I can't say I'm very happy with this material from Alumilite. Both the mold material and the casting material take forever to cure. The resulting parts are flimsy feeling and can bend very easily. I'll look for a different brand next time.

I have the Vallejo USAF colors acrylic set. What would you guys use for a primer if not Vallejo? Lots of putty involved.

Badger Stynylrez Primer works great, although you should order it before it gets cold, I've read that the primer goes bad if shipped in sub freezing temps. The Stynylrez comes in several colors, dries very quickly and sticks well to plastic. It's an acrylic primer so it washes off easily with denatured alcohol (or isopropyl). It's also sold as Ammo by Mig "One Shot" Primer.

Honey do list is getting in the way of things again. I spent the day with my son as we started placing the tile for the kitchen counter back splash. Now that it’s started I’ll have to finish it or face the wrath of SWMBO. So far she approves. Plus I’m hanging pictures again. It’s the way of the world.

Indeed. Just try to think of backsplash tile grouting as practice for future spreading and smoothing of modelling filler

I glued together the halves of the Storm Shadow casting. It was still just a bit tacky in the middle but I got tired of waiting. The outside surface was fine. Just a couple of bubbles that I filled with ca glue.

The Brassin Tornado seats have arrived and I picked up a can of Army Painter acrylic primer. No excuses for not making progress after we return from vacation.
