MaxxPro MRAP After the Apocalypse
« on: May 30, 2026, 04:46:48 PM »
I have been known from time to time to build on a Post Apocalyptic theme.
A couple of years back I started this, Kinetic 1/35 MaxxPro MRAP with maybe Post Apoc or perhaps just a RW build. So it got to this stage, very vanilla. And on the Shelf is sat, until today.

At this stage just working through some options, the leading contender being a "found" vehicle, then tricked out to suit the new reality of a Post Apocalyptic world for the new operators.

Kinetic later produced a Law Enforcement version, packing a bit less weaponry than the Military version somewhat like this, which is probably where I might start as as basis for previous owner.
Although with what the officers are wearing if it was not for the Police shield, who would know.

For a point of context, the kit I am using is the original Military release

I remember seeing a RW one at the Chicago Auto Show back in the day. Quite a large vehicle.
This will be fun to watch!
Any badly dressed over armed figures to go with this?

Love these out-from-the-box-of-doom builds! Looking forward to see where you go with this one

Bit of bench time.. which considering our big model show is this weekend, is quite remarkable. All the models for that are already boxed up.. nothing further to add.

Bull Bar, looking at a sweep down design for any.. err zombo's that get in the way to go under wheels. Also a bit of replacement of damaged grille.

Bit of Mudguard distressing..

Interior stowage underway. I like this bit, to get it looking sort of "right" for stuff that needs to be inside vs stuff outside.
I used the 3D printer to print a block, as it would have taken longer to build up using spares and card. Needs a bit of detail paint, tie downs and the like.

next step will be interior paint. Or more work on the body shell.

Excellent work! The bull bars are perfect. Nice job on the damaged fenders too. I might consider a few spotlights for traveling at night to avoid the zombies wandering on the road. Just a thought.

As much as I generally prefer my builds to have some rudimentary grasp of practicality, sometimes, maybe you have to "let it go"....

Go out on the edge on this build perhaps around on clearing a path through a horde.. why not saws. Plenty of timber mills around to get large diameter saws, power up with an electric motor... lets play  ;)

The plan is very much in bluetac concept mode at the moment to get a feel for how it might work. A long way to go yet and that is without starting the over think bit of how to clear the upper halves from off the saws.. .Oh dear here we go already  :o

3D printed some rudimentary saw disks. Originally I had plans to order some metal ones,  but then sanity said why go to that expense for no reason. Whilst a bit thick, the 3D prints will do the job. Besides I have used a real saw before on a build and it cause more angst and actual damage (like cuts) than it was worth.

Testing for height  ;)

Wait for this to get wildly over engineered and out of control  ;D

Gearing up the interior is in the works as well.

Who’s the monster now!  Ahahaha!
As far as clearing off accumulated torsos try just slamming on the brakes. Then a good car wash.

I think I'd want that box of TNT secured a little more firmly in the back first...
Nifty looking build so far-I'd add a rear-facing flamethrower or two, otherwise all those severed limbs and torsos are just gonna keep crawling after you.  ;)

Living dead versus "wildly over engineered"? Can't be done!

Fortunately, since your saw disks are 3D printed, more can be cranked out when they are (inevitably) required
