Stridsvagn 121(A) - Update for Centurion
« on: April 11, 2026, 02:17:19 PM »
Bit weird I am first physical build.. but here goes.

Asked the question to the mods if I could use an OOB kit, that had pretty much been finished, the Amusing Hobbies Stridsvagn Strv 104.
I contended that I would have got to this exact same position before doing any mods, so that got the okey dokey

So really this is an Upgrade to an upgrade and certainly a life extension. And and Update to the existing kit as well. ;)

The Strv 104 had already added some reactive armour, plus the Israeli style M-60 Power Pack engine deck, so I need to take this to the next level.
How about upgun to a 120mm Gun ? I have a few in the spares drawer, left over from other builds, the Rheinmetall 120mm in either L/44 or L/55 version. Maybe even a Russion ex -T-72 125mm.
To keep a bit of commonality, I think the German 120mm would suit best and leaning toward the shorter version.

Tried on a RWS as well, not convinced yet, but who knows. This is the AFV Club M151 version, very good chance this will change as it looks a bit clunky to me for this build

Bit weird I am first physical build..

I have to many options for this GB and I can't decide which one to pick ;D One of the options was a Centurion tho, as you're making one I can take that off the list.

I'm liking the 120mm barrel, the RWS does look a bit clunky sitting on top of the view port, what about putting it on the back of the turret instead?

Great build so far
I always thought this is what Australia would do if they stuck with the Cent rather than Leo.

Well, I guess they didn’t call it the first universal tank for nothing - lots of possibilities!

Bit of work today, gun on and cobbled up a RWS of sorts. Bit more self contained, more like a Marder MG setup

This might not need much more. Although big chance there will be some tinkering further on. ;)

All Swedish Centurions are contractually obligated to have splinter camo :P Looking forward to seeing the results.

Ta daaaaaaa !
Maybe a bit green, reasonably sure it will tone down a bit during the next stages.

Have had two very productive days in the workshop. so things are steaming ahead

Some paint stripped off during the unmasking  >:(
I was using an AK product called Bronze Green Primer. Some sort of acrylic laquer thing. Don't call it primer, if it needs a primer underneath it to start with.

Nice!  8)

I have a Swedish Army shirt in my wardrobe that's in Splinter Cam with only shades of green, no other colours whatsoever.  ;)

If it works for the grunts it'll work for the armour!

That RWS looks so much better than the M151. Great job on the splinter camo, too!

Thanks guys.

All the bits now on ready for the next stage, decals and weathering.

Unless you knew, really does not look that different from the origin version.

Yeah, the 120mm looks right at home in the centurion turret. I wonder if there was ever any real proposals to up-gun the centurion further...
