NAMC YS-11 & Douglas C-47D, Fuerza Aerea San Theodoros
« on: November 12, 2025, 03:48:20 AM »
after a long time, i finally got around to finishing some models, starting with this one.
this is a Hasegawa 1/144 NAMC YS11, with DIY decals made for the Fuerza Aerea San Theodoros.
i replaced the old 4-blade props with a pair of more modern 3-Blade ones from a Minicraft C-130A.

the second one, is a Douglas C-47D Skytrain, the redecesser of the YS-11 in FAST service.
the kit is the Roden 1/144 AC-47D Gunship, built as a standard transport, decals are also DIY.

on the bench:
-various models

on the drawing board:
-various 1/72 TinTin aircraft
-1/72 Eurocopter Tiger (Belgian Army)
-various other 1/72 and 1/144 aircraft

Nice! And a very cool idea. Not being all that familiar with Tintin, I had to look up San Theodoros:

It seems that San Theodoros is a Spanish-speaking enclave in Brazil, nestled south of Guyane and Surinam/Suriname. On the Wiki page, another enclave is shown south of Guiana/Guyana - which, I'm guessing represents the rival state, Nuevo Rico?

Anyway, an excellent basis for whif building

[Edit] Forgot to mention ... San Theodoros would have also been the western neighbour of the former Portuguese Guiana (Amapá) but I wonder if Hergé was actually inspired by the RW Counani (République de la Guyane Indépendante)?
