I don’t seem to be able to post anything into the Fabulous ‘50s - Completed projects folder. Everything else is working fine. Is it locked?

OK thanks Greg.  The test was my second attempt after my main post kept on failing.  Having said that, the test didn’t show up either.  Will try the main post again.

It looks like the problem is my end, imgur has logged me out and I can't log in again, I get the same error message from Imgur

If I continue to have problems I will repost my images as attachments for the group  build

Hi I think I've fallen foul of the online safety act imgur has blocked UK logins.

Still can't log in through a VPN because the servers are at capacity(or don't like the VPN  )

I know some of my builds can be horrendous but this is taking censorship too far.......

It appears Imgur has blocked the UK in response to the UK government's online social media age-check legislation.

I appreciate the offer, but I can't bother you every time I want to upload. It would not be fair on you.

 I need to find a way around this,  I can't let over three years of carefully curated presentations disappear at the flick of a switch because governments/companies can't get their acts together . Effing idiots !

Hi all

Good news

After a bit of experimentation I've managed to log in using a VPN set to Netherlands this has made my pictures appear in the Imgur app and on Sprues.

Result !


Bad news

I can't find anywhere in the app to reference the pics to post on sprues and I still can't start imgur through the internet , keeps telling me the server is at capacity but I think is technobabble for I don't like your VPN .

Anyways some progress but irksome at the same time

Hi Mog,

I’m getting exactly the same ‘can’t display in your region’ issues across all my pics on the forum.  I think it is likely an Imgur/UK problem.  Why do people keep fiddling with settings? If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it! 

Edit: A quick google search for Imgur (UK) issues confirms that Imgu’s parent company has indeed pulled the plug on the U.K. A result of new U.K. regulations requiring age verification for image storage/display sites. Imgur doesn’t want to play ball and doesn’t want to risk penalties… Great!  Looks like non-UK VPN location is a valid work round but still crap.

I agree, what they have done is lazy and unprofessional, but it seems to reflect the isolationist attitude that the US industry is adopting these days.

Well, Imgur CEO Alan Schaaf's online name is 'MrGrim' 

Anyway, what you are experiencing 'Mog, will become SOP for US tech firms as the UK and EU tighten their rules. (Its not a Denial-of-Service Attack, perhaps a Denial-of-Service Self Harm?)

AFAIK, the last British photo service was Fotopic.net (which went down 15 years ago). Maybe some new ones will start popping up now. In the meantime, you might experiment with European photo services ... although only the Swedish sites seem to also operated in English, eg:

There used to be an English section for Bilddagboken.se (now Dayviews) but I'm not sure if that still operates.
