Phoenix Interceptor

Okay . . .
Another build for this GB, inspired by 'Mog's Pogo build. I mean even before any modification, this thing looks like a cross between the SHADO UFO interceptor and Sky 1 . . .
Originally this was intended to be an escort fighter for the Beagle Transporter, but when I placed the two models side by side, the Interceptor was enormous ( my first thought was that the scale was incorrect, but it isn't . . .), so now it's become an endo-atmospheric interceptor, the last line of defence against hostile UFOs . . .
Here, as usual are the parts on their runners. I couldn't get on e of the latest boxings, mine is an older one, and the parts are in two colours, just like a Matchbox kit !

Now, I sort of got on a roll with this, so I haven't taken many pictures, however it's a simple kit, with not many parts. Here are the wings and fuselage assembled, I won't be using the ventral fin.

And now after some modifications, the fin tip and rudder base trimmed, the inboard ends of the elevons trimmed, to clear the engine nozzle, and the ventral fin slot filled. I've also added the intakes, though on this model they are weapons ports instead . . .

THat's All For Now, Stay Tuned . . .

cheers,
Robin.

Looks like fun! Now for a true 50s build it needs lots of pointy wingtip tanks or rocket engines on every surface.

Me too! Astonishing how much visual difference has already been created just by bobbing that fin top

Okay . . .
A bit of modification, a further change to the fin tip, and wingtip pods changed to pointy ones (MiG-21 drop tanks, with the tails cut off), and the base painting done . . .

Now off for details and decals . . .
That's All For Now, Stay Tuned . . .

cheers,
Robin.

The Pogo without the propellers actually takes on a whole different appearance.  Looks like an excellent VL point defense asset.

Love the over-sized markings & simple scheme - Gives it a really superb comic book vibe!  8)

Thanks, Gents,  :-[   :D
Regarding the colour scheme, I've always been a fan of the V-Bomber white scheme, and I thought it was appropriate for this Build. As for the BIG roundels, They are ones I will never use on anything else, well until I build another AW Siskin, anyway . . .
I had to simplify this Build, as time was running out, so instead of being armed with missiles, I fitted 'Laser Lances' in the intakes.

cheers,
Robin.
