Well I tried to paint the trailer with Tamiya NATO green and X-20A thinner cause that’s what it says to use. Big mistake! It rolled off the plastic like a duck’s back. The white plastic was hardly covered at all. Absolutely ridiculous! Now I have to buy more paint and try again but I’ll use the Tamiya lacquer thinner or just get some enamel. Question is what to do with the paint that’s on there now. If I had been smart I would have run over to the sink and washed off as much as I could before it dried.
I know the bottle of paint was ok as I had brushed some the day before and it worked fine. I should have stuck with the brush.

I always use Tamiya's "Fine Surface Primer - Light Grey" under everything, but especially Tamiya paints, as I find they can react negatively to any contaminants (like skin oils, release agents, lubricating agents, etc.). Although a thorough wash can negate many of these, some are more persistent than others & the primer generally covers them & gives a great base for any paint you use.

When I brushed it on without the thinner it worked just fine. The X-20A thinner is two forms of alcohol which has no “bite” on the plastic. I’ll never use that crap again except to clean a wound.

You can try the Tamiya acrylic NATO green. It goes on beautifully with an airbrush. Plus you can use the X-20A thinner.

Well, even after buying more Tamiya NATO green acrylic I looked at the trailer and decided to go with Model Master Army/Marines Sand. Its the same color as the Slammer and will fit with the idea of which the trailer will be part of in the future. It came out pretty good and will work just right.

Thanks!
Gloss is on so a few decals are next.
I might have to sit in the basement anyway as it’s thundering like mad here and tornado watch is out. Might as well do the decals if the lights stay on.

Progress on the trailer. Decals are on and the axle and wheels are back where they belong.

Taillights, electrical cable, a couple of jerry cans and some air lines and she be done!
