That punch looks good - how about using it to make a re-usable spray mask rather than individual disks?

That should be possible, for this build I have to mask behind and around a lot of small details tho, so it will be easier to do it with individual disks.

The masking has really grinded my progress to a crawl, I've been working on it for an hour or two a day but after 20 hours I'm only managed to do 2/6 of the masking. At this rate I'm not sure if I'll have it finished before the GB ends :(

After a month of punching out hundreds of tiny disks I've finished masking the first colour for the disk camouflage. Yes I'm only half way done with the madness, I now I have to paint it rotbraun and do it all over again :-X

Looks like your efforts have resulted in a case of the Camo-Pox for you to address

Well it took me a month to mask the first colour but only a week to mask the second.

This improvement was mainly because I changed my work flow, for the first colour I was laying the tape on a small disposable block of wood to punch out the disks. I could only do a few at a time and after awhile the wooden block was turning into wood chips tho. Realizing that this probably wasn't the best way to do this, for the second colour I went out a bough a cheap cutting mat from my local craft shop. I could then lay lots of tape and punch out all the disks I'll need in one go, greatly speeding up the process. The cutting mat is looking a bit battered from the experience but still usable, in fact I have a few ideas for some future builds using different disks patterns and colour combinations.

Time to spray the final colour of Dunkelgelb and then carefully peal off all those tiny disks to hopefully reveal the camo hidden underneath.

I was actually thinking if you angled the punch and only cut a half a circle you could maybe use it to make barracuda camo nets...

I got the final layer of Dunkelgelb paint on the model, It then took me a week to slowly peel off all the masking tape. I managed to spread the little sticky disks just about everywhere during the process, I fear I'm going to be picking them out of the rug for years to come ;D

I'm really happy with the results of this technique and masochistically look forward to trying it out again on another build. My only regret is that I didn't spend more time planing the layout of the pattern before I started masking, making it up as I went resulted in some uneven and dead end spots :/

That is a pretty astonishing paint scheme, and the labor involved is both obvious and inspiring.

I think that camo looks great! Certainly breaks up the silhouette nicely!   8)

I think the camo works a bit to well ;D It's going to need a dark wash to help make some of the details more visible again.
