A thread for the Warrior, Desert Warrior, Warrior 2000, and all their variants.

Attachments 1 & 2: Warrior IFV with MILAN firing post.

Attachment 3: Desert Warrior, export variant for Kuwait with LAV-25TOW turret.

Attachment 4: Warrior 2000, armed with LAV-30 turret
Forget about his bow and arrows- why wait until that sparrow has done his deed when I can just bury him right now 'cause I'm sick and tired of hearing why he wants to have his way with the cock robin!?

What if idea- MILAN Compact Turret in place of gunner's hatch à la an un-adopted variant of the Fox CVR(W) instead of the simple launch post in real-life?

====================================================================

Or, for an idea that involves a launch post, use a TOW system like this instead?

ISTR a Warrior Recce version with 5 road wheels and a mast. It might have been painted all-over black?

Not one to miss an opportunity for self-promotion (actually, I am, in a BIG way, usually):

My take on a 90mm armed Warrior;

http://beyondthesprues.com/Forum/index.php?topic=6711.msg122805#msg122805

In reality, & having thought about it since building this, the Warrior's hull would allow for a wider turret ring & a larger turret, making it possible to go from the 2-man Cadillac-Gage turret I used to a better, more ergonomic 3-man turret, in which the commander doesn't have to double as the loader.

Old Wombat, I always thought that was a great idea. The lines of the C-G turret go so well with the hull of the Warrior.

Does anyone know what turret the 105mm armed Warrior uses?

The one in the colour photo above was supposedly a turret derived from the Rooikat wheeled tank destroyer given the Warrior LMT105 was created by Alvis Ltd in cooperation with South African LIW.  See here:  http://www.army-guide.com/eng/product925.html

I believe this is the turret:  https://fas.org/man/dod-101/sys/land/row/rooikat.htm

According to Jane's, Warrior 2000 (650 hp Perkins CV8) with LIW LMT 105 turret was proposed as a light tank to the SANDF with either the second-generation 105mm GT7 L/51 or low-recoil 120mm GT12 L/50 gun.

To build a Warrior LMT105 one could probably kit bash a 1/35 Warrior kit and a 1/35 Rooikat kit (such as shown below).

You will need to replace the barrel given the standard Rooikat has a 76mm main gun but that shouldn't be too hard (or you could go further whiff and do a Warrior 76mm  ;)).  Putting the Warrior's standard turret with 30 mm RARDEN cannon on the Rooikat hull would also make an interesting whiff out of the effort - a different sort of recon vehicle perhaps?

A really great overview of the Warrior MICV and all its gazillion variants.

Some are extremely forward thinking, my favourite is the one from 1990 that carries a tracked combat drone in the rear.
