A-10 ideas go here! >:(

First up, how about a turbopropped A-10?

A-10-Turbo-Full-2 by Motschke, on Flickr

The engine pods are from an An-32, slightly modified and out of scale. I just looked for something that kinda looked like what I imagined it should.

Man, that turboprop variation looks like a Pucara that went to the gym!

Seriously cool!

Unfortunately, the old firehogs.com website is no longer operating.

It had plenty of images for the proposed A-10 based firekiller aircraft.

That turbo-prop Hawg is simply sweet. Or, as I like to say, "it's six flavors of pure awesome!" Filing that away for a future build.

Navalized A-10, whatever the choice of powerplant, with the wing fold just outboard of the main gear.  For something outre', a navalized two-seat A-10 with the gun replaced by a very large AI radar and fire control and with multiple Phoenix or Phoenix ER (either with an integral rocket-ramjet motor replacing the rocket motor or with a booster that results in a missile very much like the Eagle) in a Missileeer role.  I've been doodling on the integral rocket-ramjet-powered Phoenix ever since reading that it was the losing proposal to Vought's LVRJ test program.

I have a kit in the stash that will be my navalized Hawg, in USMC markings. It'll have the folding wings, though I'm not sure of which way I want to fold them - up and over the fuselage or fore-and-aft parallel to the fuselage?  It'll make it into the display case one of these days...

I have it in mind to do a couple of RAF Thunderbolts one of these years. The idea is that European air forces won't look at them without all-weather kit, so the RAF ones have a range of avionics similar to Harriers/Jaguars/Tornados. Some of this stuff was tested in principle on the N/AW A-10 demonstrator. The idea is that the single-seater is the main "bomb-truck" while the two-seaters support them with battlefield SEAD and off-boresight laser designation.

Single Seater:

Terrain-following radar in one u/c fairing
LRMTS in other u/c fairing
Harrier GR.7-style FLIR just below the windscreen sill-line in place of the IFR socket
Lightning-style refuelling probe bolted under one outer wing
Harrier GR.7-style RWR "horns" under nose

Two-seater: All of the above, plus:

GAU-8A replaced by an Oerlikon KCA plus a small ammo box (same ammo as the GAU-8)
Serious volume of SEAD avionics in former ammo-tank bay
Wired for ALARMS, jammer pods and TIALD pods

Enlarging the rear fuselage so that a tail gun assembly can be installed?  ???

Forget about his bow and arrows- why wait until that sparrow has done his deed when I can just bury him right now 'cause I'm sick and tired of hearing why he wants to have his way with the cock robin!?

Cool. Hit the T-80 with 30mm on the way in and with a 20mm on the way out.

Just make sure the crew does not eject at the same time.
Work in progress ::

I am giving up listing them. They all end up on the shelf of procrastination anyways.

Yes, a tail gun.  One good for air-to-air and air-to-ground.  Need to plant a radar etc in tail for that.

Hmm, I can just see a nicely contoured radar pod above the gun.

Not exactly unprecedented in the real world:

It seems putting four gun pods on an Su-22, two facing forward and two facing back was not uncommon.
