I had some leftover propeller blades from a Special Hobby Seafire and another $5.00 Airfix Typhoon. It was time for another 1940s Cleveland National Air Races racer. The spinner is all that is left from an Air Lines(FROG) Sea Fury that I built in 1963(it was my first ever FROG build). I cut off he cannons, breech covers, and bomb racks and puttied the holes. The rest is OOB, except for spares-box mainwheels. I brush-painted the thing Humbrol Gloss Orange and Testors Aluminum for the insides. I used scrap-box decals to mark the racer in period style markings. This is my fourth Whiffer air racer. I feel the call to build some more racers in the future. I think Orange looks really cool on a the big brute of a Typhoon.

The gloss paint layed down very nicely for you! Did you use multiple coats? Looks great.

I brushed one coat of Humbrol Gloss Orange. It was a old tin slightly thinned. I primed the silver plastic with one coat of Plastikote White Sandable Primer from a rattle- can. I use soft synthetic brushes from the Art Supplies Department at my local Hobby Lobby store. I don't own an airbrush. I have been brush painting for almost sixty years.
