1/72 Hawker Hurricane Mk. VII
« on: July 01, 2013, 02:17:36 AM »
Here is a WIP of my Hurricane Mk VII AKA the Hurri-Fury.

It is a Revell MK. IIc with the PM Sea Fury FB.II wings and gear, Italeri Spitfire Mk. IX propeller and Academy MK XIV exhaust. I did not use the Sea Fury horizontal stabs as the MK. V with the 1,700 HP Merlin 32 also used them.

The wings blended very nicely. Needed two slivers of Styrene on top. Underneath I cut and shaped the fore and part of the wing sections (they were separate in the kit), used small pieces of the gear doors, PSR x3 leaving a small "chin" at the front. It was a cleaner fit than expected. I hollowed out the right side bulge with a small drill bit to make a tropical air filter.

Not sure yet who will fly it.

Next will be a bubble canopy version using a Yak-3 aft fuselage. This has already been done and well documented.

Work in progress ::

I am giving up listing them. They all end up on the shelf of procrastination anyways.

I like it! :)

(Although I can see a possible need to modify the tail fins slightly.)

Getting there. Most bits are glued on. First coat of primer. Some test camouflage.

I found this canopy in my parts bin. Do not know where it came from but I like the way it fits.
