  I hope to kit the Katsudori one of these days-but I couldn't help but be tickled looking at the build-ups
 on the Meng site. They look neat, but what caught my eye was the intake, which features a compressor
 face.... ;D

This kit is the first in their "Tyrannosaurus" range -- Meng state that they intend to become the world-leader of model kits with quality & subject matter (ie they will knock Tamiya out) -- so we may see other super-Tanks.

Moulding & fit of this kit is Tamiya standard and subject matter is streets ahead of anything Tamiya have done.

I have not visited the Meng website for the last few weeks so I was unaware they had finally added some content.

I hope they will offer the F-101 and F-106 at some time in the future.

And yes, this is a nasty bit of plagiarism.

The -101 and -106 are the only century fighters which have not been re-tooled to a 90's or 00's state of quality.

For me personally, I'd like to see the F-101A and C, the CF-101B and F, the one off EF-101B, the RF-101A, C,  G, H and finally the RF-101B. Just a small shelf is needed for display.  ;D

I've read a couple of the build reviews and there are some things to watch for (in the suspension mainly) as the instruction are a little weak in places. I'd recommend to anyone building to track down the other builds first. As to accuracy I don't think there's much to worry about apart from the fact it's a early prototype. Some modellers are adding (and complaining about the lack of) details from the later vehicles.

issues ??  There is a great 4-part build review on Modellers Social Club http://modelerssocialclub.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=armor

The only issues are 1. its of the only complete surviving prototype P-1 (no production).  2. later prototypes had a shell-port in the LHS.  3. shape of the upper LHS mantlet area is a bit off (easy to fix with some putty) & armour texture is generic (but very nice !).

I've fixed the mantlet & shell-port on my kit but otherwise haven't built it yet.

Only rivet-counters & JMNs can complain about this kit -- DML's T-28 may have worse problems.

Ah, but you left out the really funky-looking single-seater with J79s that was bailed to GE in the 50's as a zip fuel testbed.  It had the J79 nozzles at the back end of what look to be F-101B afterburner shapes (the long ones) and a big GE logo on the vertical.
