We were lucky to get to see it fly, conditions were quite wet and breezy early on, but by about eight'o'oclock it had dried up, and the wind had died away completely. Conditions were so good, that as well as the Boxkite, we got to see the Avro Triplane replica, the Bleriot XI, the English Electric Wren, and the Blackburn Monoplane, all in action . . .

More progress..........

The Canard is on and stringed.

Next job undercarriage then the flying wires

Frank3k :- whilst building the Canard I noticed some of the rigging on the booms was slack, it turns out the boom construction is a bit "bendy" and one side the wires were holding it back and the other side was going slack, so you're right, providing they are stuck down properly the rigging wires do add a bit of strength to the structure.

Nearly finished but still a few nights work I recon.

The undercarriage is now on and strung but sadly the photos I took were corrupted somehow so no pics at the moment.

Working on the control wires now but I have discovered I have made a bit of a rookie error. I should have installed the control wires before I completed the wiring on the booms and canard because now I have to (literally ) thread the control wires through the bracing and inevitably I'm knocking off the odd wire as I go, very frustrating and eyeball straining but I'm getting there albeit s-l-o-w-l-y.

More when it happens.....

Rigging is a large part of the reason I don't build more WW1 & Pre-WW1 aircraft. It can be more than a little tricky figuring out the proper sequence. That said, you're doing a splendid job, and Frank's right about the contrast between the ribs and the fabric. Great work!

Getting rigging even close to the real thing just sets these early aircraft apart and imparts an almost automatic sense of WOW

Thanks guys, I'm not far off finished, after the last photographic debacle I've got myself a new lighting rig that has the camera phone at its centre.

The boxkite is too big for my photo booth so I'm going to photograph it against the gray "wall of joy" the same way as i did the TSR2. Sadly without the Land Rover which proved too big (a scale too far ?

)

The last p-26 i rigged was with stretched sprue.

For a little monoplane it has an awful lot of wires

Finished at last!

The Boxkite is complete, here's the pics........

For a really old kit this one went together extremely well, I made a lot of work for myself by doing all the rigging but I am extremely proud of how it came out.
