Kerick is right, Doc, it's the radar display. :smiley:

The curtain is an odd call, it's just the curtain as moulded into the part, all I did was mask it off & paint it SMS Premium Olive Drab SCC No. 15, but, I must admit, I'm pretty happy with it, the colour looks like rubberised canvas, to me.

For me, it's all the little details that are even more impressive than the overall excellence of these builds.  Bravo Zulu!

As LJ says and in 1/35 scale - you must have a steady hand and much better eye-sight than I do.  Or do you have a specially trained ninja hamster to do the tricky stuff for you?  ;D

I'm not sure hamsters are legal in Australia, I don't recall ever having seen any.

So, no. No specially trained ninja hamsters.

Just my bespectacled eyes, a decent illuminated magnifier & fairly steady hands*.

[*: Often not steady enough, which results in a flow of Royal-Australian-Navy-educated invective adjectives, brute force removal & re-works.]

No, it's illegal to have pet hamsters and gerbils in Australia.

Pythons and pet monkeys should have been illegal in Florida. Now it’s too late as they have infested the Everglades.

On the other hand, somebody dumped an alligator in a pond in a park in Chicago. They had to call a gator catcher from Florida to capture the thing. The media named it Chance the Snapper after Chance the rapper. Also some idiot dumped a gator in a stream in Hawaii while I was stationed there. It got caught in a wire fence across the stream and died or there could have been an environmental disaster. If people want to keep an exotic animal they should bother to learn how releasing it can damage the regional environment.

How’s the pibbers coming along?

All good, mate! Moving along slowly (now I'm back home, after a few days away, being Grandpa) but surely.

Working on getting the turrets together, getting a few small-arms painted up & a few other odds-&-sods.

Just to prove that the PBRs aren't dead, I present you with a bunch of photo's of where they're at (including some smallarms & Eskys);

The dials are from 1/32 Quinta 3D printed decal sets for British aircraft WW2, 1/48 would have been a better size but my enablers didn't have any in stock.

Ditto for the compasses - one worked better than the other.

Waiting on other bits'n'bobs to move a bit further along.

I'm also having additional thoughts about the quad-.50s - like "Do I really want to use Jerry can ammo tins or do I want to use the original 100-rnd ammo cans?*" and "Should I add protection for the reload crew?". the latter inspired by the following images;

Decisions! Decisions!  ::)

[*: This was because I calculated that the Jerry cans effectively only hold about 200-250 rounds, maybe 300 in a pinch, but would take a considerable time to reload, whereas the 100-rnd cans will be chewed through quicker but can be swapped out faster in the long run than the Jerry cans can be reloaded.]

Looking good!  Onward!

To play devil's advocate re:ammo cans - the jerry cans are loaded up first, that way you have more ready rounds for any immediate action and it lets the reload crew move into position.  After that, you run the 100rd cans as reloads.

Going to have to add those 3d printed dials to the "want/need" list.

I though about that, but to fit the Jerry cans you have to modify the ammo can tray (basically cut out the bottom & back & fit the Jerry cans permanently). Then the only way to use the 100-rnd cans is to try to balance them on top of the Jerry cans, at an angle, to feed right - pretty precarious on a mount that can swing violently & erratically to change targets during an engagement.

The dials are great & self-adhesive - but only on a very smooth, flat surface (which this isn't, so I glued them with a clear parts adhesive).

Those GPMG's/FN MAG's look nice! Where did you get them?

These L7A2s are out of the USSR ... sorry, "Putin's Autocratic Oligarchy of Expansionist Russian Imperialist Aggression" ..... I bought these prior to 2022. ::)

I think Voyager do a few M240's, but most of the other good makers of these things (Live Resin, Bravo6, ANT Miniatures, etc.) are Russian &, until they stop their territorial expansionism, I no longer buy or recommend their products.

I was pretty iffy about buying them after 2014, to be honest, but they are good. :icon_crap:

I also have a couple of resin L1A1s painted up, but they're not quite the best quality. So, I may have to pull out a couple of better ones or use the ones I have in a more "background" role. ;)

Well dang. Guess you'll have to go with the 100rd boxes then. Unless...there's a way to replace the cut down jerry cans (a set of pins hold them in place, pull pins, swap cans?) then you'd have to have several sets of jerry can reloads near at hand?

I know model detail parts are a small market but I also have trouble buying Russian and even Chinese parts. The Chinese stuff is almost impossible to avoid these days. Ukrainian stuff is no problem. I’m not trying to get too political so I’ll stop now.

Thanks for the info. I do have some LR M240's and Legend makes some FN-MAG's/M240's as well which I have but LR is better quality and has better details. Great job as always and waiting to see the quads mounted on the bow.
