Yes, the venerable Heller... :D Still a very nice kit, all in all. I do want to pick up one of the Special Hobby 21R one day, but this'll do for now.
Still leaning toward a Reccon platform, but I also want to look at what the Swedes were using air to surface anti-shipping missiles (if any)...

The experimental RB 302 would fit the time period for SAAB 21:
https://robotmuseum.se/robotar/rb-302/

Or RB 303 https://robotmuseum.se/robotar/rb-303-lufttorped/

I had come across those a little earlier, but thanks for linking them in the post! I think I will go with something like the RB 302 or 303. I have some parts in the stash that should be just about perfect. The next question in one under the center line, or a pair underwing outboard of the booms?

Just guesstimating from missile specs and usual loadouts for SAAB 21 ... one under the centerline is enough.

Doc: I agree with perttime about the single, belly-mounted ASM. The challenge would come when the prop blades catch up with a mis-firing 'Robot'. So, perhaps backstory in a powerful ejector rack to ensure that the payload clears the spinning prop?

<pedant mode> Rb 302 and Rb 303 were projektnumret - all Rb 3xx designations being applied to experimental types. If these missiles were accepted for active service, Försvarsmakten would have changed their designations to Rb 02 and Rb 03. (Note that neither the RW Nord CT20 nor Northrop 'Humlan' targets had yet to enter service during your timeperiod ... so there would be no conflict over those Rb 02/Rb 03 designations.) </pedant mode>

Looking forward to this build (Scruffy willing)

Much as I like overloaded attack aircraft, given the weight of even the Rb 302 (500 Kg, if I remember rightly) a single centerline mount would be the way to go. But after doing a little more scrolling, I found this: https://wiki.warthunder.com/Hprak_m/49 -which was carried in pairs on the outboard pylons.

Looks like SAAB 21R could carry 5 of them on a mount that goes under the belly.

Very wise. But, in this case, yeah ... a real thing.

According to the Swedish Wiki page on the Saab 21, Bofors developed a range of rockets to replace Flygvapnet's m/46s - their versions of the British 3-inch RPs. The largest of these Bofors rockets being the hprak m/49.

Halvpansarraket translates as 'anti-tank rocket' but, actually, the Flygvapnet intended them for use against naval targets.

Or perhaps "semi-armour-piercing". Wikipedia articles on SAAB airplanes seem to define it as APHE: armour piercing high explosive.

Thanks for the feedback and compliments everybody!

The underwing rockets are going to be a larger version of the halv - pansar, one to a wing, and they should be done over the coming weekend. (I've got a pretty full week at work...could have sworn I was retired, but... ;) )  The camo is a bit anachronistic-I think the splinter pattern didn't start showing up in the Flygvapnet until sometime in the 60's or 70's, but I think it looks pretty good. I tried some thing a little different with the masking this time-the wing is just about the same width, (Chord--wise) as a strip of blue low tack masking tape, so I laid out a strip a bit more than the wingspan, traced the outline, and started laying out the angles with a sharpie, then went back and cut them apart with an x-acto blade. I am debating going back and adding a third color, (darker green) but I also have an impulse to quit while I'm ahead. :D. I am pleased overall, especially since the landing gear has held up to handling so well. I did snap the pitot tube off removing the masks yesterday, but I should be able to fix that...

Please remember to spell it "halvpansarraket", if you keep the Armour Piercing / High Explosive function  ;)
