Just a thought, postwar F-38's using the same Allison engines as the F-82.  Perhaps with the elongated center fuselage with two seats under a bubble canopy and fitted with radar as a night fighter?

Quoting myself is probably an indication of a problem, but, anyway, I thought of an additional change that could be incorporated.  Since the Constellation wing is based in that of the P-38, base a new P-38 wing based on the Starliner wing.
