That's a great way of giving an old SWB Landrover a new life! ou can cover the garage with solar panels and drive free forever.
I wish my Dad had kept his Landrover longer, but his "hobby" was to buy a car, drive it for 2-5 years, sell it and get a different one.

It is. And a damn tidy installation as well! A nice bit o' work :smiley: :smiley:

That would look right at home in the League of Extraordinary Gentlemen (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_League_of_Extraordinary_Gentlemen_(film)).

Wow!

from my photo stash

I love the Forward Control.
A friend of mine drove one about in the 90s when he was a radar technician in the British army
Evidently they sold them when there was only a few thousand klicks on the clock, a habit the British army has that no one can fathom

1/76 but should be straightforward to scale up to 1/35 and detail:

I just love halftracks :-*

Does that qualify as a halftrack?
-
No, they're Cuthbertson Tracked Land Rovers.
These are Land Rover half-tracks, called the Laird Centaur;

Did these see action?
-
Possibly, they were only ever prototype vehicles but that last photo above was titled "Battle damaged prototype", so I can't see how it could have been battle damaged without seeing action.
Also found this image while checking on that question;

This seems like a fairly comprehensive article on them (seems there were only 8 of them made);

Still, Whif World & all that. ;)

The perfect platform for managing and controlling pigeon infestations on hi-rise buildings and structures.

The article says: "... Centaur recovered from a scrapyard in Kuwait in 2005. This particular vehicle had been sold to Iraq in 1980. It is currently in the hands of a restorer. According to the eBay listing when this was sold, it is chassis number 6."
It has been through some interesting times.

Sexy af, where do I find one, please?

The Laird half-track Landrover wasn't widely adopted because they were noisy, suffering from "track slap" against the upper mudguards at speed. A simple problem which could be fairly easily fixed with return rollers and a shortening of the track it was never attempted.

From the Facebook "1/35 Scale Military Modelling Projects Kits & Scratchbuilding" page
LAND ROVER 88 GROUPING OF NOMAD TROOPS
For many years, a classic of 1/35 scale modelling has been the Special Air Service (SAS) 'pink panther', operating alongside the Long Range Desert Group (LRDG) in North Africa during World War II.
However, we have almost forgotten that Spain had a similar unit, the Nomadic Troops Grouping, perhaps the most forgotten unit of a forgotten campaign.
The Grouping of Nomads of the Sahara Troops is constituted according to the rules set out in Instruction 1159-31 of the Sahara Sector Headquarters dated 30-XII-1959.
The Unit was declared as a "Special Troops" Unit by Decree 921/67 (D.O. 105).
The specific missions of this Grouping were the following:
Surveillance of the territory, especially border areas.
Collection of information.
Apprehending offenders and isolated suspects.
Persecution and destruction of parties of these evildoers, infiltrated and whose amount does not require immediate accountability for the achievement of the same using greater means.
Control, protection and assistance of nomadic tribes settled in the territory, with the presence of staff and confirmed in their camps or villages.
All that matters to an efficient police service in the field.
The project is to adapt the AK Interactive 88 short (ref. AK 355012) with various aftermarkers.
Sharing some photos of the documentation.

Here are some Czech army Land Rover types I've snapped here and there. The Czech army has replaced the Land Rover with the Toyota Hilux for the most part.
