The legendary Farley Fruitbat is well known, but they also had some not so successful designs. In this instance I will attempt to build the Farley Flutterbug, a possibly license built derivative of the Westland Lysander. 'Possibly' refers to rumours that corporate espionage and blackmail may have been involved, but we won't go into the politics. These parts are from a previous abortive attempt by Todd 'Captain Canada' Pomerleau, who graciously donated the parts to me, along with a second Lysander kit.

A nice combination of J2F Duck and the Lysander to create an amphibian is always an excellent and most welcome idea.

And it will be a biplane.

Going by the ingredients, this ought to be tasty indeed.

By the grace of God and a long-handle tooth brush it has been done!
Actually does not look that "unholy" with the Duck bottom, a bit of putty to fill in the gaps and it will definitely look like it was "made for this!"

You've been watching too much Ericr ! ;D ;D

Are you going to keep the windows on the Duck's float? I think they would look good with the Lysander.

Agreed and seconded; they would seem only appropriate with the window area of the Lysander.

Oh, definitely. I've already started on the ones that will cover those oblong cutouts. They will be in the open position and that's where the oarsman will sit.

. . . and that's where the oarsman will sit.
Oh-Kay . . . :icon_surprised:
Definitely watching this one now . . . looking well, so far . . .
cheers,
Robin.

Wow, that's very encouraging, keep it up sir ;) ;) ;) ;)

The Farley Aircraft Bureau was well known for its
attractive beautiful interesting paint schemes. Unfortunately my camera fails to capture the splendour of the mustard yellow, rendering more like dandelion.

Really coming together

I see you added a red cowling and red stripe - that’ll add a few extra knots to the speed! Looking good, though.

Lower wings are on. It looks like it has an anhedral, but they are level. Optical illusion.

Coming along very well I reckon
-
It’s looking good! How did you do the Lysander canopy masking?
-
That is quite the eye-catching design; definitely helped by the paint job.
-

-
That looks great, huge wing stagger though ;) ;)
-
Where's the "fugly"? ???
She looks good to me, mate! 8)

Maybe it is the camera angle/view of your model that makes me think of a Dragonfly thanks to the additional wings. Something related to the "Dragonfly" like this beast from the Carboniferous period (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Meganeura)

The construction adds to that impression. The top wings are attached as normal, with a slight forward sweep. The bottoms are trimmed in alignment with the ribs, which gives no sweep. Farley had unusual ideas about wing arrangements.

Looking damn fine!!

It does that! Damn fine and seriously twisted
And I loved Jeff's Meganeura ref ;D
