Here's what I did with a 1/32 Revell Mirage III last week.

Uh? did you mistyped III for F-1 as the link seems to say? Or have you transformed very much an actual III? :)
-
Following your link, it seems this is actually a III much transformed with a MiG29 wing, congratulations :-* (I would keep the wing low to invent a new one, but this is your way)
-
That is certainly a hand full of plastic Uncle Les. Great paint job! :)
-
However you sliced and diced it, great work!
What did you use for the stripes? looks like decals.
-
:)
-
Geeze - what a cool finish. 8)
I could try for two years and lucky to do half as good.

yellow airbrushed enamel.
black handpainted freehand acrylic.
emblems on tail handpainted on scrap decal
tigers at front homemade decals.
:D
-
Awesome!!!
-
A very "catty" build. A fenominal feline finish!
-
So if this is a Mirage III with MiG-29 wings, will we be seeing a MiG-29 with Mirage III wings in the future? ;)
-
Great job :) And, boy, does your upside down work-in-progress shot get the creative juices flowing ;)

Was looking at those photos and somehow ended up in your photobucket Les, couldn't help but notice a photo of a framed picture of two RAN Skyhawks in what looked to be EDSG over white with a high demarcation line and armed with Bullpups. Is that an artists impression of what they thought the RANs Skyhawks would look like or perhaps a manufacturers publicity piece?

Short answer: Yes.
Slightly longer answer: That's a fairly large print as seen on the wall at the FAA museum in Nowra many years ago and I believe it was indeed a pre-delivery impression as presented to the folk who'd be looking after them when they came on line.

That's an amazing piece of work Les - until I clicked on the link I was getting ready to say that somebody had got it wrong and that was a straight Mirage F-1 kit. 8)
The MiG-29 wings have got me thinking: I wonder if they could be used to make a big-wing Jaguar?

Working on a Grumman F9F-8 Cougar for the RAN in the late-50's/early-60's & this scheme is looking the business! :)
(Actually, it's sitting in its box waiting for me to finish up a couple of other builds before I get back to it. :-[ )
-
Thanks Les, that's a very nice scheme, I actually like it more than the actual schemes used and may adapt it so some other types I have in the stash FJ-4 anyone?
-
I think that scheme would look gorgeous on an Avon-Tiger in RAN service.
-
It would and I will do it oneday ;)
I have an incomplete F-14 in that scheme that I may be able to resurrect some day and an incomplete F-4S that was going to receive the same. Also the FJ-4 Fury and a Hawker Seahawk, possibly a Hunter F6 too.

For a fleeting but, ahem, exciting moment, I thought "that scheme" as the yellow-black tiger stripes from the opening post instead of the later mentioned EDSG/White. :P

I used Mistibushi T-2 or F-1 wings to build a "big wing" Jaguar. Worked out quite well.

Have you thought of using the wings from a Saab Draaken on a Jag? That'd "big-wing" it, and no mistake! :)
