Good to see Miracles in pre-grey camo, :) :)
Brings back lots of memories of fly aways to RAAF Williamtown where Miracles became targets for A-4Gs!!!

Also of a sad day when 2 Mirages flew into Albatross, then flew out to play with the Other RAN (not the birdies), a little while later Sea Kings were scrambling & only one Mirage flew back.

I can't remember exactly but I think they later recovered the pilot from the cockpit.

Wombat is correct, a Miracle did go into the 'oggen, details from ADF Serials Site are;

A3-82 Mirage IIIO(A), Crashed 70NM southeast HMAS Albatross due to an engine fail during a fleet support serial, the pilot ejected safely and was picked up by RAN Sea Kings (I guess they found a couple that could just fly ;D) he was SqnLdr. J.W. Kindler.

JK holds a rare distinction:

Only pilot to have ejected from TWO Mirages!

A3-82 as described above and also A3-98

Crashed 06/07/72, 30 nm northwest of Tengah Singapore after In-flight fire (3 Sqn). Pilot ejected at 5,500 ft and 350 kts with only minor injuries. Crew; Flying Officer John.W.Kindler. RAAF Ejection number 42.

Full details of the second:

Crashed 02/08/83, 70 nm southeast of RAN Air Station Nowra, NSW Engine failure during fleet support mission. Pilot ejected at 1,000 ft and 200 kts over water with only minor injuries; rescued by RAN Sea King helicopter. Crew; Sqn Leader John.W.Kindler. RAAF Ejection number 61.
