I haven't been to active of late here as I have been really busy with work and my latest build.....needed to finish it before I go on holidays which I glad to say I have managed to just complete.
I have been (well still am) a F-5 STGB on another site, which to my surprise is proving to be a very popular build. This build was also started after the Meteor was finished so it was a pretty quick build, though not without issues! The base model is Wolfpack's F-5A Skoshi Tiger which is based on or uses the Kinetic moulds. The issues are the moulds are either a little old and well used or they are made of a softish material, plus Kinetic decided to make this a modular model which could be the base for several different versions. Results are mouldings are no longer crisp and cleans and fit for the modular parts leave a lot to be desired!
Anyway, it's completed now and was a an enjoyable build and as a result I'm very tempted to build another one, though this time I'll try the Club AFV F-5E, which is a much better model.
please enjoy.

All that is missing is the smell of JP4.
A very nice model!

Now that's a real show-stopper!
The weathering is especially nice, well-restrained and incredibly realistic! The work on the burner cans is impressive too!
Well done!
Brian da Basher
P.S. Maybe I missed it, but what scale is this in?

Great paint work!!
Yes, sir! Great looking Tiger! :icon_alabanza: :)

I agree with the above sentiments, great paint on a great piece of work.

Such fine detained perfecto F-5 that browsing pictures give 1960s flashbacks. :)
Interesting fact of Skoshi Tiger deployment is that migs never rose to oppose them. Wonder if that was intentional avoidance or happenstance.

Gorgeous, always love the look of the F5 and thats a fine model!

I've always wondered why the USAF didn't use the F-5 in quantity in Vietnam

I've always wondered why the USAF didn't use the F-5 in quantity in Vietnam
A couple of reasons:
- It wasn't really in the USAF inventory in any significant numbers and moreover was seen as more of a trainer aircraft
- In a combat role, it didn't really offer anything different/better than that offered by already inservice platforms
- It was relatively short ranged

It would have been quicker to build up in numbers and could have been "in-theater" so range wouldn't have been an issue, and from what I've read it was more the equal to the Mig-21

Maybe, though remember that at the time much of the USAF was enamoured with bigger, faster - e.g. F-105, F-4, F-111. The little F-5 wasn't really something that fit within that mold....

Looks good. Nice work

Really great model, the camo is nicely done :-*

thanks for all the great comments guy's it is really appreciated. She was a nice model to build, it had issues but nothing too major.
Have a big year planned for models (am back on a more friendly model building roster), no guarantees as to what will or will not be completed in time....plus there is always a chance for the odd unplanned one as well!
Planned GB's;
1/48 P-47 Thunderbolt (in Brazilian markings)
1/48 Su-7 or Su-17M4 (with all the extras thrown in)
1/32 Ta-152H (major project for the year)
1/48 SM-79 or Macchi C202 (again with heaps of extras)
1/48 A-36 Mustang (though I may bring out a 1/32nd resin Mustang racer I have partially started)
plus the two conversions I have already started....and maybe I may make a start on the next He-177...this one is longer and has 5 engine pods!
hope everyone had a great Xmas, and a Happy New Year to you all.

Having worked on Nellis Aggressors, I can see this as totally believable. Execution of the model and paint is excellent!

Woh! :icon_surprised:
How'd I miss this? ???
I'll just agree with everyone else's comments! :) :icon_alabanza:
