What does one do when one has a rather nasty headcold, a ton of paperwork ( appraisal time ) and severe time limitations... ?
One heads to the modelling studio and seeks a diversion.
Now this has to be something that can be whipped up quickly, not one of my long term projects ( too numb on codeine to concentrate ) and will be different whilst being achieved using mundane kit parts.
A quick review of the available Revell 1/32 stash yielded a Bf110 - perfect for a whatif Messerschmitt 161/162 conversion - so - fire up the Royskopp on the beat box, take some more ibuprofen and promise myself I'll go for as long as the CD lasts.

So for starters tonight: a little builder's bog and some resin Bf109B noses

That's where the printout came from that you see draped over the box that I'm using as a guide. This is going to be a quick job and definitely a whatif so I'll sacrifice accuracy for expediant fun.

Ah…the combination for some inspired modelling. ;)

BTW, we did actually have a thread on the Bf162 (http://beyondthesprues.com/Forum/index.php?topic=1320.msg16763#msg16763) - your creation will make a very useful level of support for it.
-
Wow that's some incredible PSR and vacforming!
You have absolutely mad skills, Uncle Les!

Hey yeah ! Neato. Now I see what one looks like in 1940ish guise thanks to sequoiaranger. ( got sidetracked then going through his excellent prewar concepts)
I gotta admit I started out thinking early or pre-war Luftwaffe, now I'm thinking Bulgarian... or Hungarian.. and if I can find some suitable floats... naww... stay on target stay on target

You have absolutely mad skills, Uncle Les!
Err.... In Les's case you could actually shorten that to just Mad :D
As usual Les.. great work
-
Yes .. thanks for that Brian :icon_punal:
I've decided to speed it up and not bother shortening the oleos

I'm really impressed with your work on the nose and those masks!
This is gonna be a real beauty!

Zerstorer Pathfinder!
Would make a great piece for a Luft '46 entry. Have it lead the 110's on their strikes against the Allies.
-
Les, knowing your superb skills and speed. This may even be ready for Wings and Tracks tomorrow :)) :))

Would probably be a bit dated for 1946…would sit well for 1940 though or for Schnellbomber attacks on the UK from 1941 - 44 or simply just in North Africa/USSR.
-
Superb choice of scheme/markings! :)

Here'tis tonight after returning home from today's fun at the IPMS Wings & Tracks, I'll call it done and dusted.

I think that's one of the best examples of splinter camo I've seen yet!
You've built an absolute show-stopper, Uncle Les!
Brian da Basher
-
That came out just about perfect!
-
Yes, great result! :-*
-
I dribble incoherently at such talent.
-
Gorgeous..
-
Certainly is "sumthin". Turns me same color as green part of camo.
Subject + detail + build = fine OOB looking result :)
-
I am gob-stopped. Willy's gotta be slapping his head saying, "Why didn't I think of that? I bow at the feet of a Master Whiffer Builder. Adios, Larry. :-* :-*
-
:-*
Just fell out of my chair! No worries, my jaw was already down on the ground.
-
Amazing work :) , you really are very skilled, a pleasure to watch your projects go from an idea and grow into a finished masterpiece!! 8) 8)
-
Would make a great piece for a Luft '46 entry.
Maybe the Bf-162 is not apropriate for Luft46, but the Bf-262 (less famous than the Me-262) aka Bf-162Z is a good candidate:

:o

:o Whoa!!! ;)
-
I'm in awe of your speed & quality, Les. There are no words to describe the combination of the both striking at once, however. :icon_surprised:
Nice one! :)
(... & Tophe, the Asymmetric Kid, strikes again! ;D )
