Title: akeno fighter school ki-78a..1945/1946
Post by: oz rb fan on December 20, 2012, 06:47:04 PM
developed from the high speed research plane of 1943,the ki-78a was used in small number as a point interceptor armed with 2 12.7mm machine guns it was not very successful in shooting b29's down but it's high speed and small size made it very hard to hit and was a huge headache for escorting fighters, it was successful against  carrier borne strike packages.

That's a lovely little build, oz.  Not enough people do Pacific War builds, especially Japanese subjects, and especially Whifs!  Very nice!

As you note, I do think it would have been woefully under-armed against B-29s at that time.

Cheers,

Logan

Nice model. What scale is it?
Radiators on the side makes me dream of a twin-Ki-78 looking like a P-38...
