Title: 1/72 Arado Ar 424A-1
Post by: The Big Gimper on November 17, 2012, 08:21:37 PM
A few weeks ago in a the Oops I sinned section, I bought a Me 210 and an Ar 234 B. They arrived yesterday and lucky for me  the SWMBO was not home when the stash was delivered.  8)

So last night while surfing I started looking at the upcoming re-release of the Aoshima TA 152H-0 this December which according to reviews is the definitive kit. So what do I do with DMLs kits I have? Well, why not donate the wings to the Arado?

Patter downstairs quietly, out with the ruler, black markers, tape and saw:

measure measure measure
mark mark mark
zeh zeh zeh
sand sand sand
Tape tape tape

Stand back. Breath again.

It's ALIVE!!!!!

Here is the taped together / blue tack stage with the Me 210 / Ta 152 wing on the left and the original wing on the right. I have about 85-90% of the Ta 152 wing attached just out board of the radiators. The chord look good as does the taper.

The wing span is now about 70 feet as compared to the original 47 feet.

At this stage, I can build as is or I can make it into real high altitude fighter/ recce by adding superchargers located in the engine nacelles where the Me 210 landing gear was and sourcing another set of the larger props used by the Ta 152.

Thoughts?

PS: My tail is warped. What is a tried and true practice to straighten it out?

Looking good. I like your supercharger (turbocharger?) in the aft nacelle idea.

@apophenia: I was giving this more thought. I like to mount these on the aft end of the engine nacelle on top of the wing.

The Do 217P implementation (http://www.internetmodeler.com/2000/april/new-releases/resin_do217.htm) is cool.

@finsrin: I am going to complete the right wing first, work out the process and then build the left which I hope will be smoother and quicker.
