I'm really glad to find a forum where I can actually post a picture or two of the models I make without purists denouncing me for heresy because I didn't build a “real” craft.
This is just a simple conversion, the result purely the creation of my warped imagination – no prizes for identifying the original airframe. Not a particularly complex job, but one that I think worked relatively well (not that common, unfortunately!).
This is a Monteverdi GC8-D short range spacefighter, designed for launch from an aerial carrier at high altitude. The GC8-A was fitted with a Royce Major 880-R rocket engine, but the lack of thrust gave it poor performance. The GC8-D has a longer fuselage and a Yaquinto VLZ rocket engine, giving less flight duration but virtually twice the power. The main armaments are cluster missiles mounted in the gaping bay under the cockpit (and not visible in the photos – sorry – I never took a decent front view).
When the fuel is gone, the fighter makes a re-entry as a glider and lands conventionally on the undercarriage.

That is awesomely fast looking!! :)

Glad to have you with us. We like all forms of modelling and emphasise the fun!

Welcome aboard, Lensfire! That cool spacefighter is one heck of an introduction! I really like the blue color you chose. Nice work!

Gotta love space fighters! The Monteverdi looks pretty cool. :)

Thanks for making me welcome!

Am liking it. Perfect fit for this forum. Well conceived bash. Shall we say "believable improbability". :)
No doubt faster than a Slowy Jet.

Looks good, keep the "warped imagination" ticking over :)

Very nice indeed - welcome!!

Of course, if it would make you feel more at home, I could, for a small fee, denounce you as a Heretic...

You. Are. Nuts.
And I LOOOOOOve this build.
The postulate is scifi credible and the concept is awsome.
Bring 'em on!!!

Welcome Lens'
Yes, we routinely sweep for purists and such here. I deal with the types that live under bridges and count rivets,

Attractive in both concept and execution-welcome!

Very cool design! ;)
Good to see that you came here!
Have fun!

Russ - I love the dragon!
Andrew - be careful what you say - my imagination gets pretty warped at times...
Finsrin - I have a Skoda biplane which is crying out for jet engines - the Slowy Jet needs a fighter escort! (But don't hold your breath - I am not a fast modeller!)
Deathjester - what fee do you demand ? Blood, oil, raw brains or money? I can offer the first three, but the final one is more difficult. (Don't expect the brains to be in working order)
Rafa - yes, I'm nuts. And proud of it!
Dr YoKai and Mike - thanks!

That sounds like a challenge...
