Title: 1/35 Tamiya IS-3 Stalin, designed after Wien Margarete's performance "Butterfly
Post by: MyQueenDaiwaScarlet on April 03, 2026, 06:18:29 AM
This is an IS-3. It needs literally no introduction because it is one of the most influential tanks in history.
This IS-3 is no ordinary IS-3 though, it is painted after the legendary Japanese idol, Wien Margarete, from the tv show Love Live Superstar, specifically in her song Butterfly Wing.
I literally had to hand paint a bunch of katakana. That was not fun. The build itself was pretty good though. Except for the rubber band tracks. I hate those.
I think that it turned out pretty decent for having to hand paint in a language I don't often write.
I hope at least someone thinks this is cool but I have low hopes lol.

I know it is not perfect, but I personally am proud of it.

 I presume this is the Tamiya kit ?, a good rendition of an early JS-3.  I personally prefer the rubber tracks as single-link makes me insane - you could get some Trumpeter or other brand JS-3 single-link tracks.

I always think that rubber tracks are too hard to put on without breaking the wheels. If I ever have the same problem with single link tracks, I can just add another link.

Indeed it did. For hand-painted katakana, that's pretty impressive
