Title: Next GB
Post by: GTX_Admin on July 24, 2024, 02:14:48 AM
Folks,

With the ending of the Swords to Plowshares GB, it is time to consider the next group build, probably starting some time in Aug/Sep and going through to the end of the year.  I can set up a poll with a bunch of suggestions but thought it might be easy just to select the second choice from the last poll back in April (http://beyondthesprues.com/Forum/index.php?topic=11031.0).  This would be the Scandinavian GB.

If you agree with this, please vote YES.  If not, vote No.  With the latter though I would appreciate other suggestions if you have them.

Yes

Due to bad timing I've missed two different Scandinavian GBs on other forums. hopefully it will be third time lucky and I'll finally be able to build something.

Works for me!
Maybe a Swedish MV-22.
Where to get Swedish AF decals?
Do you think the Swedish AF would go so far as to apply splinter camo to an MV-22?

For the one after this roll the junk box and scale o rama together.

Inspiration for Scale-o-rama?
"Baby Hatchling Tanks"
Microarmor (1/300th) and 1/35th scale figures?

You have to imagine that the second this photo was taken, the tank crew involved were all thinking the same thing
"So I had to get my boots full of water for this???"  ;D

Which definition of "Scandinavia" will this follow?

From Wikipedia:
"Scandinavia most commonly refers to Denmark, Norway, and Sweden. It can sometimes also refer to the Scandinavian Peninsula (which excludes Denmark but includes a part of northern Finland). In English usage, Scandinavia is sometimes used as a synonym for Nordic countries. Iceland and the Faroe Islands are sometimes included in Scandinavia for their ethnolinguistic relations with Sweden, Norway and Denmark. While Finland differs from other Nordic countries in this respect, some authors call it Scandinavian due to its economic and cultural similarities."

I would suggest the broadest interpretation, so;

Denmark, the Faroe Islands, Finland, Greenland, Iceland, Norway & Sweden.

Of course, if you want to go all-out Whiffy, then you could pull the north of the UK, including the Yorks/Humber, North West & North East counties, Scotland (including the Orkney & Shetland islands), northern & eastern Ireland (Londonderry, Antrim & Down), the lost bits of Finland, & much of modern Russia, the Baltic states & Ukraine into the fold, too. Maybe even parts of North America.

 ;)

... Svalbard as part of Norway (or autonomous, or independent) ...

Svalbard IS a part of Norway, despite what the Russians may think.

But of course

I am not adverse to this...though it will be up to the GB Mod

There might have to be multiple playings of Carolus Rex (https://www.sabaton.net/discography/carolus-rex/)

Okj, I will take the vote as a positive for the GB suggestion.  I will set up GB shortly.

I am happy to mod this one ...unless anyone wants to tople me.

Greenland is a part of Denmark. This could include the raging dispute between Denmark and Canada over some tiny island between them.
