1/72 XA2D-1 Sprues

You already know about our future model XA2D-1 Skyshark in 1/72 scale. But you ain't known what is in the box. 🙂

So, we are ready to introduce you the unpacking of our model. There are a set of plastic parts for the assembly of one model of the aircraft consists of ten sprues, one of which is clear, 234 plastic parts and 83 photoetched parts, two-piece decal, set of masks made from yellow kabuki paper and a bit of our love. We know that you take a fancy to it!

XA2D-1 Skyshark in 1/72 scale will be available very soon at our web store or at your local retailers.

I am giving up listing them. They all end up on the shelf of procrastination anyways.

I guess I took one for the team on this, I have a limited run 1/72 kit of the A2D-1 in my stash along with bits and pieces to improve it.

I'm thinking an operational A2D-2 with a T54 replacing the T40 would look good (T54 bears the same relationship to the T56 that the T40 does to the T38).

I'll almost certainly get one to build as in service, but I'll wait and see if Clear Prop do their usual two boxings, one standard and the other advanced. They are nice kits and build well, but the advanced are a little wasted on my clumsy fingers and screwed eyesight, so I'd rather the standard.

I have two of the Mach 2 kits (can be saved) and why even bother to make it since it's really just a lump of resin: the Merlin mould.

I built the Anigrand kit (nice build) as a FAA aircraft

The Skyshark is only slightly smaller than the similar Tu-91.

Very nice!!  It makes me think of doing an operational A2D-2 with a T54 replacing the T40.  Perhaps a USAF one in SEA camouflage?

Why not a T56? It would be lighter and have more power. You'd still need 2, unless there's an engine with twice the power.

Add a second seat for an "observer" or weapons officer and have a US version of the Tupolev 91.

What would the external differences be if the A2D used the T54 or T56 engines?

Not much, really, as the T56 was developed from the T38 and the T40 was two T38 gas generators on a common gearbox whereas the T54 was two T56 gas generators on a common gearbox.

Because the T54 is essentially two T56's with a common gearbox, much as the T40 was two t38's with a common gearbox.

TB2s are quite compact, but I wonder if you could scale-o-rama this into a manned aircraft.
Cheers,

Wonder if there will be any decals for the "Red Hat" squadron at Groom Lake, Nevada?
