RUIN - An animated short set in a post-apocalyptic universe. It's only a tiny sliver of a much larger story. Thankfully, it's now set up at 20th Century Fox to become a full length feature. Check out our new Facebook Fan Page at http://www.facebook.com/ruinfilm

The amount of detail is incredible.  I hope they continue in that vein for the full length film version.

How indeed.  Perhaps some really good gaffer tape?

How does the hero manages to accelerate on his motorcycle when his right hand is off the throttle and holding that katana-wakizashi sword thing ;)

I'm not sure that he does accelerate when he's holding the sword actually. Listen to the engine note: the bike slows down, then he changes down a gear to go up the ramp. At most that needs the clutch (left hand) but on most bikes you can do it clutchless if you judge the revs right.

The effects are very good; I particularly like the standing water right at the beginning. There's something not right about the way he runs though. It's too regular, like a running machine rather than a real person.

Logic-wise, why are the missiles so slow, and why do they only start to shoot at him after chasing him for several minutes at the same distance? I like the missiles' pulsed vertical jet lift though, which is very remeniscent of the Dragon ATGW.

Very nice!  :) Reminded me a bit of the airboat/gunship chase in Half-Life 2.

WOW!

CGI at it's best...
o.k. while running, his legs seemed very long and the cap... maybe it stays at his head because of his dirty hairs - some natural glue over the months of not being washed?
And the bike; maybe equipped with cruise control (looks like a Buell)?

The bike is a Yamaha MT-01: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yamaha_MT-01

Another nice touch I just noticed in the animation: you get a shot over the rider's shoulder when he's really going fast, and his jacket is not just rippling but rising up due to Bernouli Effect. The is entirely realistic, as anyone who's ridden a naked bike can testify: anything loose (like some waterproofs) that isn't held firmly down by a belt will ride up, leaving you with a cold and possibly wet waist....

I suspect the animation is based on footage taken of a real bike ride...

I love the MT-01...

The last bike, I'd had was a (what else!?) black (!) Yamaha XJR 1300.
(I had to sold it in 2003... :icon_sueno:)
