Why is image insertion so bad on this board???

Don't use "Quick Reply", it's flakey and it's a problem with the Simple Machines software.

As Robert says use the Insert Image (Mona Lisa) icon, also use the "Direct Links" pick on your Fotki links,
you don't need all of the html gobbledegook they attach on the "Classic links".
