The photos probably won't be that great - I'm working with the laptop camera which is a bit awkward - but here's my project. Construction starts March 1st.

Your builds are always a marvel, Doc.
Looking very much forward to this!

Me too. Excuse my ignorance, is Dorvack related to the SF3D/Maschinen Krieger series?
-
OK, Doc, I'm waiting to see what piece of steam-punkery this turns into. ;)
Excuse my ignorance, is Dorvack related to the SF3D/Maschinen Krieger series?
Nope.

Oh boy the competition just hotted up big time !

The weekend's progress. Sometimes these older Japanese kits have really brittle plastic. Both out side ankle joints fractured, and both shoulder pivot pins snapped off. No great matter, as I was planning on gluing it into a fixed pose anyway, but still a bit exasperating. The BFG is parts of a lighter, some Walter train bits, and the original hand and grip for the kit's bazooka.

Not much of a macro funcion on the laptop, but you can sort of see extent of the fractures.

Indeed. Like your BFG  (And a belated thanks to Jon for the link.)

Slowly forward. Assembly largely complete - a bit of basalt grey for a first primer/seam check.

Probably would have gotten further along, but I got distracted looking for other parts and these sorta happened...

Into the home stretch with this one. Basic paint complete, futher fractures foiled, BFEMPG battery pack attached.
Next weekend at the wire, weathering and markings.

That Facebook link will probably fail... but the color looks great! I like that brick/brown color.
-
thanks, Frank - that's Vallejo black red, out of their regular line. it is a nice shade, but seems to remain tacky and semi-gloss a bit longer than
some of their other colors. ( But the weather has been cool an very humid as well. )
Not sure what happened with the image posts - I used the standard image tags last night when I set this up, and the single link does work...
Any idea why this happened? I haven't seen anything on my FB feed that inidcates an issue...
-
I don't know much about Facebook, other than it's evil. The image links may die, too. Have you considered using imgur or Flickr?
Vallejo may be tacky due to the humidity. You can hurry it along by using a hair dryer - but try it on another surface painted with the same paint - just in case the paint is going bad.
-
Wow that looks great, Doc, and I especially like the BFG!
Let me see if I can get your image to work...

Goodness knows how long it will last as Frank says.
Unfortunately, I got buffaloed into something called "Booked Faces" which has put me off the whole thing ever since.

This should be the wrap up - let me know if there are more picture problems; Facebook is what I have at the moment, but hopefully I can augment that in the near future.

Not the easiest of builds, but not too bad - the crumbling problem is still dogging the thing, but I won't be handling it much a
after today. One note of...something...-the faint H visible on the right knee, and the barely visible grasshopper on the faceplate are
froma nearly fifty-year old ESCI sheet that I picked up at a Grand Forks hobby shop sometime between '72 and '75.
-
Craig - for some reason I get a Sardaukar (from Dune) vibe from this figure. Nice job!
-
"FOLLOW ME! ADVANCE!"
Nicely done.
-
That turned out great.

Thanks, all - I likely would have done a bit more. or differently, but for some reason, I had it in my head that the GB ended yesterday... :-[
Well, I do have a couple of other projects, as y'all saw above, so I think I'll put up the space fighter thread in a day or two, and maybe the
steampunk anti-science pirate Russian air cruiser that started coming together about a week and a half ago... ( Blame Old Wombat ;) )
-
Wow did that finish up a treat!
Can you imagine that guy coming at you? Yikes!
Most excellent, Doc!
