A little time back on this august site there was a bit of chit chat on the Ideas and Inspiration Board around the Tetrach Tank and getting armour in for Airborne forces to give a bit of hitting power for the Recce elements and the challenges to do that.
My contribution was to hypothosize around a Universal Carrier Fitted with a Polsten Cannon as it provided commonality with the AA element bought in by glider as far as weapon and ammunition.

So to put my plastic where my gob is.. here we go
So first up we need a Polsten Cannon.I am far too cheap for this type of build to buy a Resicast job, so scratchbuild.. here we come. It is a big sucker, over 2m in length and good enough for government work.

So, drop it in the standard Carrier.. that would be too easy.. naaaaahhhh.. lets have some added armour and a casement type mount

Some small modification to fit the operator and give access to ammo. Practical.. no. Expedient and suitability to task ?
Maybe.

The real challenge to come is getting some running gear. All the Running gear for this particular model was used on a scratchbuild of the Preying Mantis prototype, hence why this carcass was hanging around.

This is great! I love the Universal Carrier and you've definitely given it a makeover. I agree with Volkodav - a Christie suspension would work, of you can find some road wheels (and track, and drive wheel...).

The main issues would be that the springs would have to be outside the hull, which may make the profile a bit higher... unless you don't care if the riders have a bone-jarring ride.

Go with something simple like the ASU-57 or AT-P.

righto... back in the game
Thanks to Russell at International Models Asia I got some resin Carrier Suspension
(Do yourself a favour and have a look at some of his other great resin kit... I am a happy customer of several of his kits)

So using the IMA Resin tracks as well, I made up a jig to get the track in the right shape using a hairdryer to soften the resin

Then into detail time. Add some Black dog storage.. ok probably a bit too much for a carrier like this but, being airborne, vehicle longevity is not a prime concern to my way or thinking

It's starting to look real neat, great idea to make a solid jig to heat/shape the resin tracks, consider that one nicked!

Love your scratch-built Polsten Cannon. Am I seeing things or did you recycle an old pen for this?

Ok call the build and finish done. Perhaps a pic later on with some figures I am working on.

Bit of extra work on the radio and attacked it with pigments, which I now have to back off a bit, but that is easy enough as they just brush off.
Must say that I enjoyed this build. I am now eyeing of a Churchill stack of parts I found.... I have a plan.

Love it, so believable, pair a section or troop of them with a PIAT section and you'd cover off the AT side as well. What would be good is an airmobile 6Pdr td version of a carrier to complement these.
