Hobby Boss news for 2012 from their catalogue! CLICKY! (http://scalemodels.ru/news/4027-novinki-HobbyBoss-2012-2013.html)
Personally, I'm looking forward to the WZ-10, Delta Force FAV and the Panhard EBR. Really diggin' the Panhard EBR. Awesome left-field choice there. Not giving up my hope for Hobby Boss or Trumpeter to do some 1/35 South African stuff just yet.
-
I am with you on the EBR...here's hoping the 1/48 Su-27 leads to a Su-32/34.
-
Looking forward to the Z-10 and Hoplites in 72nd. Another brave choice in 32nd too with a Black Widow.
I hope their FAV actually makes it unlike Dragon's attempt.
Once again, very happy with their 35th offerings.
Regards,
John

<...> here's hoping the 1/48 Su-27 leads to a Su-32/34.
About the only chance, I'd say. A conversion set would be fantastically expensive. All you could re-use of any given kit would be the wings and fins.
-
Must have that EBR 10. Never thought anyone but Heller would make French cold war armor. :D
-
Will be getting the FAV, probably more than one.

I've considered buying one of those a few times - I just wish they would hurry up with the other variants such as the 35mm gun or 120mm gunned variants.

Bernd Heller has uploaded numerous images with his in-box kit review of the HobbyBoss 1/48th scale F6F-3 Hellcat - "Late Version" - (Kit number 80359) (http://www.modellversium.de/kit/artikel.php?id=8862) to Modellvesium.de (http://www.modellversium.de/).

Looks like a decent kit at a moderate price and it certainly looks much better than the old Monogram kit.

Oliver Sia from the IPMS Philippines – Bert Anido Chapter has uploaded images of the Hobby Boss Panhard EBR FL-10 French Army 8×8 (1/35th scale kit number 82489) (http://ipmsphilippines.com/test-shots/hobby-boss-135-ebr-10-french-army-recce/)

Me want...now!!!

Looks like a corker of a kit. Seems like a bumper year for things that we wouldn't have expected in styrene.

John
-
That Panhard is a must have. :icon_beer:
-
Now they have an FL-10 turret, I wonder how long before we see an AMX-13 light tank from Hobbyboss to replace the ancient Heller offering? Once that happens it opens other possibilities in the AMX-13 family as well.
-
One wonders if they'll consider the SK-105 Kuraissier.
Regards,
John

Regards,

It'd be interesting but if I was running Hobbyboss, I'd make sure I'd fully exploited the moulding as much as possible - AMX-13/75, AMX-13/90, AMX-13/105, AMX-13 DCA, AMX-13 VTT, AMX-13 Mk61, etc., etc. THEN, I'd start on the Kuraissier and that would lead into the Steyr APC series... ;)

While it is not the HobbyBoss kit, this 1/72nd scale Zvezda Su-50 (T-50) built by Waldemar Pupar does provide you with some images of the box art camouflage scheme at this link on ARC: http://www.arcair.com/Gal12/11601-11700/gal11699-Su-50-Pupar/00.shtm (http://www.arcair.com/Gal12/11601-11700/gal11699-Su-50-Pupar/00.shtm)

Sd. Kfz 254 (http://www.squadron.com/ItemDetails.asp?item=HY82491)
I had to give a shout-out. As far as I know, almost the only wheel-and-track combo
ever to see even limited service. ( Not quite as cool looking as teh Shofield (Sp?) wheel-and track
from New Zealand, but still...Whoo! )

there was the earlier, smaller ADMK wheel'n'track but no-one does a model of that :icon_nif:
That Saurer Sd. Kfz 254 would go well with the Citroen halftracks on the Gobi Desert expeditions :) :D

The "onions" in the exhausts look a little odd to me.
The Jumo 004 could move the exhaust "onion" forward or backwards (quite a bit) as form of a thrust adjustment; it was basically the first "variable exhaust" jet nozzle.

Turn the torpedo tube openings into panoramic view ports for the passengers and I think it would make a marvelous passenger airship.

Dear Guys hello!!
My name is Kostas Kavvathias and i am one of the artists who work for Trumpeter-Hobby Boss model companies! i live and work in Corfu-Greece!
I did the box art for the Messerschmitt 262A-1B and just wanted to inform that the strange ''onions'' at the engines are the normal tail ends of the BMW 003 jet engine! The Me-262A-1b was an effort to check the performance of the aircraft with the BMW 003 engines, instead of the normal 004 Jumo ones! I suppose the other guy was joking about the ''onions''!!
i hope i was able to help a bit!
Besides that, i am glad to have a look at your very nice site, and if there is anything i can be able to contribute, i'll be glad to do it so!
Have a nice day, or night, and please keep up the good job!!
Regards, Kostas kavvathias www.kostaskavvathias.com (http://www.kostaskavvathias.com)

You've got to admit adding onions to jet engines would be total whiff and probably right up Radish's alley.
Brian da Basher
-
Welcome aboard, Kostas! I thought the nacelles on the 262 looked a little odd, but it makes sense if they're the 003 engines
and not the 004. Did any of these ever see service?
-
Definitely welcome aboard Kostas. Outstanding artwork! :) Do you have other examples of your artwork that you can show us please?
Regards,
Greg
-
Did any of these ever see service?
I believe the 003 version was only a trial. I don't believe any saw actual service...but in the whiff verse, we don't let that little fact get in the way do we. ;)
-
Dear Greg, and rest of the guys,
Thank you for the wellcoming and i will be glad to be able to help in any way i can!!
As far as i was able to find, the Me-262A-1b was just tested on a few trials on the ground with the 003 engines on! i was not able to find more info! I did the image based on the data given to me by Hobby boss guys! In a way, the Me-262A-1b box art is a ''what if'' status! According to another info blog, that particular airplane did also a few short flights! After all finding info about Luftwaffe in late 1945 is a massive pazzle!
Also thanks Greg for the kind words about my art! I have done 25 paintings for Trumpeter-Hobby Boss up to now, and included are the box art for the 48th scale Trumpeter Spitefull, Seafang, Mig-23M flogger b,
Sukchoi-25A and UB, F-117A nighthawk in 32nd scale, plus all the Messerchmitt262's, F-14's,F4U-4 Corsairs from Hobby Boss in 48th scale!
Please have a look at www.Kostaskavvathias.com (http://www.Kostaskavvathias.com) for more!!
Thanks again for the wellcoming, and happy to be part of your nice effort in the Magic world of Modelling!!!
Best wishes!!
-
That is some nice work you have done.
-
Thanks greg for the kind words about my art!!
-
I'll second Greg, that's some gorgeous work. I doubt I'll be able to afford it, but do you take private commissions and, if so, what are your rates?
-
Kostas, you've got a great style, very nice artwork, hope you share more of your art as you produce it. :-*
-
brilliant artwork Kostas 8)
welcome aboard too, cheers, Joe
-
Dear Doom, TSRjoe, and elmayerle,
Thank you also for the kind words about my art!! I really apreciate that guys!
Ever since i was a child, the magic box art done by the masters Roy Huxley and Roy cross made me really to start doing modelling aircraft kits(mainly)! I propably would have never enter this magic world without those magic paintings on the kit! i feel really dissapointed to see Airfix using those computer images nowadays as their box top! They are good, no doubt, but they do not capsure the magic feelling felt back in those early days of modelling times!
Fortunatelly, the Japanese and Chinese model companies still use painted box art on their kits, and so, i was lucky enough to be able to collaborate with them!!
Dear Elmayerle, there is no problem to undertake a commision at all, and please do not worry about the payment! i usually charge 600 euros for a 60x80 cm images! Depending of course what you like to depict on the painting! The trouble is, i am very busy these days with those Chinese model companies! Thank you for the proposal anyway!
And to give you some news, well....suppose to be secret, i just finished the box art for the announced P-61B black Widow in 32nd scale! i do not know the exact date of release though!
Have a good modelling, and not only, day!! Regards, kostas kavvathias

Kostas, I really like your artwork. I hope yo don't mind a little "alteration" in the sake of "What Iffery".

Some neat models coming soon :)
A Merkava ARV? Wow! :icon_surprised: That's quite "out there" for a full kit from a mainstream manufacturer. Wonder whether they'll also consider a Namer HAPC?
-
that Merk-3 ARV is of a limited-production type that is no longer in service -- both Legends & AEF did it in resin several yrs ago.
I fear a kit of the production Namer HAPC (Merk-4 chassis) will be several years away unfortunately :(
-

I fear a kit of the production Namer HAPC (Merk-4 chassis) will be several years away unfortunately :(
The handful of Merkava ARV conversions were just Mk 3 tanks without the turret. The Namer is a new design from the hull floor upwards. So much harder to make a scale model out of compared to the ARV. The only thing model wise that would be common between the Namer and Merkavas would be the tracks and suspension.
-
I know they're quite different. ;) The good things is we're talking about Hobby Boss here. Take their CV90 family, for example. The way they set up the sprues in their kit of the CV90-40C with add-on armour, they'll only be able to use the tracks, suspension and some assorted bits'n'pieces for their upcoming CV90-40 kit. The hull and turret parts will have to be completely new. And if you look at Legend's conversion for the Merkava ARV, that's also a fairly involved affair. I reckon the Hobby Boss version will also come with a lot of new parts. Lots of new parts plus an extra new hull for the Namer don't seem that unlikely.
So, going from Hobby Boss' inclination to consider "out there"subjects and and their willingness to make "family" kits even when they don't have very much in common, I think they might consider a Namer. Well, at least I hope they might. :P
Another thing that I find interesting is that they even consider an ARV. The ARV variant was the only CV90 variant they apparently did NOT consider (at least according to their pattern maker's comment on Armorama). Hmmm, a Leo 2-based Büffel ARV? Come on, Hobby Boss, you know you want to....
-
There are some very nice armour kits being released in 35th scale, and I am sure I am not alone when saying this this, but wouldn't it be nice if there were more 1/72nd scale stuff coming out too. It seems to me that this scale is getting left behind as far as armour and military vehicles are concerned.

Y'know, looking at that Me262-A1b, I'm wondering how much effort it would take to modify it as a Nakajimi Ki-201?

There are some differences, besides the engines. The tail looks a little different and so does the nose and canopy. I did a Google search for the Ki-201... and the images it returned ware of my Ki-201 (http://frank.bol.ucla.edu/ki201.htm) (1/72 RS resin kit).

Hi all!!
I hope you are all doing well!!
Nice to see posted the new kit releases for October! I was commisioned to do the box art for the F-14D and the F4U-4 kits!
I am a bit grin to see that Hobby boss team changed the original VF-31 markings i did in the painting, with the VF-101 Cream reapers, shown on the box! VF-31 is one of my favourite SQNS! I am anxious to see how the box art looks on the box cover cos they changed using computer graphic programs!!
I hope you'll enjoy the new releases!! All the best,
Kostas Kavvathias

Awesome work Kostas!!!! The F4U looks tempting, I've been wanting to get some for ages as the Corsair makes a great whif chassis ....

Great work Kostas...I was curious to see if you had a hand in any of these.

Dear Queeg and GTX Admin thank you for the kind words about my art!!
I hope that the kits will be also good! I have been reading some issues for the Hobby boss kits in the web, but i cannot help on that! I only take part in the designing of the box art! All the rest taking place in China!!
have a good modelling time!!! Kostas

The Toldi II isn't quite the same as the Dominican L60 but it still looks like it would be fun to build as a tank from a Whif banana republic.
-
Dear Queeg and GTX Admin thank you for the kind words about my art!!
I hope that the kits will be also good! I have been reading some issues for the Hobby boss kits in the web, but i cannot help on that! I only take part in the designing of the box art! All the rest taking place in China!!
have a good modelling time!!! Kostas
Very few manufacturers are perfect. I like Hobbyboss kits and as I prefer to build for fun small accuracy issues don't lessen their good value for money and the fact they're readily available, so much for me.
-
dear Queeg,
i think you are more than right! I remember how easy and free times were back in the 80's when i was building kits strait from the box and not having so many worries about the shapes and accuracy! That of course does not means i did not tried to correct some very obvious mistakes, plus making sure my model to be as historical correct as possible! But, a lot of modellers nowadays are always with masses of data and rullers in their hands and trying to prove that this or that is 0,4mm wrong, and that green there is not the exact green used from Luftwaffe in November 12th 1943 at 13.00 hours!!!!!!!etc etc
I think a modeller should have moments of enjoyment and not frustration!!
Have a good modelling times!!! All the best, Kostas

Scalemodels.ru has posted some pages of the Trumpeter and Hobby Boss catalogues for 2013/2014. LINK (http://scalemodels.ru/news/5722-kartinki-iz-katalogov-Trumpeter-Hobby-Boss-2013-2014.html)
They're not the full catalogues (and mixed up to boot :-X), but just the armour pages of both catalogues and some ship and 1/72 Easy Build aircraft pages of the Hobby Boss catalogue. A lot of stuff is therefore still missing.

Pics of the MTVR and the Delta FAV/SEAL DPV! Now if they actually make it into production, they'll make it into my stash!

Lucky Model has just listed the HobbyBoss 1:350th scale USS Greenville (SSN-772) (http://www.luckymodel.com/scale.aspx?item_no=HB-83531) to their web page.
Click on html or thumbnail image to view additional images of the kit contents at LuckyModel.

This will have to do until one of the modeling pages does a kit review.
Based on what I see in the images this looks to be a rather nice scale up of the 1:700 scale Greeneville kit with a lot more detail. The SDV is what makes this kit appealing and also a what if since the real SDV was destroyed in a fire and never returned to service.
-
Dear Modellers!!
Also, Hobby boss has released some very inerested new kits, with the most dominant, the P-61B Black Widow in 32nd scale! It has been great news for a lot of Modellers in the world, esspecially those large scale nuts!! All the best!!
-
Here is also the F4U-4B Corsair in 48th scale!!

New 1/48 F-80 now available:

Yep, and as has become SOP with Hobby Boss they've screwed the pooch on shape.

Box art has 50s kit look. Reminds me of Aurora boxes. Might call it a retro box.

looks somewhat like the Tamiya box style too ???

HobbyBoss came out with a new 1/72 Dornier Pfeil and there's a build review up on Modeling Madness.
Despite the work of an incredibly skilled modeler, I can still see the wing/fuselage join which is a pitfall with most of their kits.
Still, I think HobbyBoss is great for quick builds and projects not requiring extensive mods.

Really? I'm not seeing it. Which picture? On the upper surfaces it looks like the natural wing join/panel line/reinforcement. On the underside, what I thought was a bad join is just the lower engine scoop.

Check the 2nd shot Frank. The exhaust staining brings out what looks like a curved step between the fuse and wings.
Not that anything I build comes out any better, but this seems to be common among HobbyBoss kits.

Hello there!!
I did painted it's box art and if it looks like the old Aurora kits, i fell flattern! I am working with acrylics and brushes and not with mouses and PC! It does not tham mean i do not respect the new style of box aart images, but i prefer the old way fo doing it!!
As for the shape of the kit, well sorry guys, i have nothing to do with that! I am only responsible with it's box art! Other people in Trumpeter-Hobby Boss factory have this task!!!
Have a good day!!

Dear Raafif,
Again if the box art of the new P-80 by Hobby Boss reminds you Tamiya box art, i am really pleased about it!! Japanese box art artists i think are the very best in the world!!So i get a lot of inspiration from them!!!
All the best!!!
-
That M19 tank transporter looks interesting.

According to the "Trumpeter & Hobby Boss Fan Club" on Facebook (LINK (https://www.facebook.com/TrumpeterModel)), Hobby Boss will continue their CV 90 family:
They haven't posted which version they're gonna do. My guess is the upper hull in the pic will be for a Norwegian CV 9030N, due to the cupola for the section commander in the back and the heavier ribbing on the access hatches near the engine. The heavier ribbing isn't represent on Swiss and Finnish vehicles, the other operators of CV 90s with a cupola for the section commander. The Swiss and Finish vehicles also have a noticeable step for the raised troop compartment (as do the Danish and Dutch vehicles), while the Norwegian ones don't.
The lower hull could be for a Danish CV 9035DK. They use the same two large hatches for the troop compartment the Swedes use, but have a flexible periscope between the two hatches (the Swedish ones don't and the Swedes have the heavier ribbed access hatches). I don't think it's Dutch due to the raised access hatch to the left of the engine and the Dutch version's (again) different troop compartment roof.
-
Glad to hear that "export" versions of the CV 90 are in the works. One of the nations in my "Whif World" uses the CV 90 but I've held off on buying a 9040 in hopes that we'd get a 9030 or 9035.
Maybe there will be a CV 90120 in the works at some point.

I'd say you did a magnificent job of capturing the look and feel of the box art from those classic kits, plane art!

Dear Brian da Basher,
Thank you very much for the kind comments about my art! I am always trying for the best possible effort cos i do have a respect to all those great leaders of box art tradition, such as, Roy Cross, Roy Huxley, John Steel, Jack Leynnwood, Richard Kishady, etc etc!! I also was once a prolific modeller and surely felt better when the kit i was buying had a more elaborate box art on it's top!!
Thanks again, have a good modelling time!!!

Hobbyboss announced 1/48 YF-23 for August. I hope it'll come soon :)

1/48 YF-23? Yes, please! So many possibilities...will be adding to the wish list.

Well, here's the box art:

A bit of disappointment in seeing that the fuselage does not feature any kind of weapons bay. Still nothing to be sad about as it is still cheaper than the Collectaire kit :)

Same images as the link above but larger now available for viewing at ARC discussion forums at this link: 1/48th Northrop YF-23 Black Widow by HobbyBoss - box art (http://s362974870.onlinehome.us/forums/air/index.php?showtopic=260345&pid=2542411&st=80&#entry2542411)
Friendly warning: Ignore the slag-fest by the "experten (*NSFW) (http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=felcher)" in that thread. Just appreciate the fact that we have a 1:48th scale injection molded polystyrene model kit of the Northrop F-23/YF-23 that should be more affordable than the slab of resin that was offered by Collectaire. I can not understand these haters in that thread nor do I wish to. I see plenty of potential for this kit with or without the faults that the sad little trolls are going on about. Unlike some of the other HobbyBoss kits, I will endeavor to acquire at least two of these kits if not more as I have always preferred the shape and appearance of the Northrop F-23 over that of the Lockheed Martin F-22 [C]Raptor.
Now if someone has any idea about what the external wing stores pylons look like for the F-23 it would be a good time to share that information. In the interim, I am thinking that using the wing stores pylons from the F-18 might be a good stand in for this purpose. The argument being that the F-18 was designed by Northrop. So why not?
-
I'm thinking that LO is LO and they'd likely look like what's on the F-22 or F-35 in teh way of pylons.
thinking of doing a RF-23 with the front quarters of two TSSAM's mated together, back to back, and semi-submerged in the weapons bay. You could even use the LO window applied to certain TSSAM variants for optical/IR use (scary thing is, 15 years later, I still remember the shape even though I didn't work on it directly).

I'd prefer three. First:what-if polish, second:what-if israeli, third:real USAF. These guys sit too deep in their trenches. Let them stay there :)

I'm in for at least one - navalized and in USMC markings. Hi-vis, of course.

"Boomerang II"? That won't come back if it's that shape! ;D
I'd have thought as the YF-23 was nicknamed the "Black Widow II", a similar Arachnid from downunder would have worked better - how about "Funnel Web" or "Trap Door" or "Huntsman"? ;D ;D
-
War and hunting boomerang didn't come back anyway, it was only the smaller ones used for hunting and scaring birds that did.

I think Boomerang II would be apt given the first CAC Boomerang. KittyHawkII would also be acceptable.
Chris and I chose the Red Back nickname for reasons that might not be obvious to all here (http://alldownunder.com/australian-music-songs/red-back-on-the-toilet-seat.htm).

I think that must be an in-joke with Chinese kit makers; I think it's been in everybody's catalog at some point, starting with DML back in the 90s.
I wonder if the KrAZ 255 is based on the Roden kit?
The T-20 Kosmolets on the Mirror Models kit?

Excited!!! 1/48 Ka-27 :)
Happy also to see the 1/35 CV90-35 announced.

^ When they do the Super Tucano in 1/72, I'll buy half a dozen easily. >:D Warts (inaccurate belly area) and all.
One thing I don't get is the bit that people needn't worry about the little mould line running across the canopies. Even if the Super Tucano didn't have a antenna or det cord there, you'd still get the mould line. The Super Tucano has a blown canopy and the toolmakers need to make a two part mould to allow for the undercuts. So, you either have an easy to remove mould line or an inaccurate canopy. Simples.
And the blown canopy is really obvious on this aircraft. A canopy from a single part mould would look just silly.

1/35 Panhard VBL! Woohooo! :icon_beer: Been hoping for one of these in plastic for a loooong time!
-
Announced back in January, making more appearances now...maybe a 2015 release?

Some new releases by HobbyBoss (http://www.themodellingnews.com/2015/02/a-new-website-and-four-new-kits-for.html)
These two are of particular interest to me:
1/35 Hungarian 44M TAS:
1/48 Ka-27 Helix:
I wonder if we can expect a 1/48 Ka-29 in the future (fingers crossed) - after all, they have already done it in 1/72.
-
And if they do a Ka-29, might we also see a Ka-31 with the AEW fit?
-
1/35 Hungarian 44M TAS? I wonder where they got the drawings for that? Only one built and it was destroyed along with the factory and the design office when it was bombed... Interesting design though. I could see the twin engines being replaced with something more powerful ASAP.
-
Finally...1/35 CV9035:
(https://images-blogger-opensocial.googleusercontent.com/gadgets/proxy?url=http%3A%2F%2F3.bp.blogspot.com%2F-7p4BMia02e8%2FVPfabET9aII%2FAAAAAAABZYE%2FuEm1R2YK88M%2Fs1600%2FSwedish%252BCV9035%252BIFV%252B(1).jpg&container=blogger&gadget=a&rewriteMime=image%2F*)
-
Better test shot of the 2A4M CAN on their FB page. Also a French VBL 4x4 in the works. Will post pic here when I get home if nobody else has by then.
-
Don't you love the quality control on the boxart...

Apart from the spelling and the fact that the CV9035 is in Danish and Norwegian service, not Swedish although the Swids may have ordered them too for all I know.
Something interesting is BAE are apparently going to offer a version of the Patria AMV with the CV9035 turret, called the AMV35 for the CRV (Cavalry Reconnaissance Vehicle) segment of the LAND 400 AFV recapitalisation. This suggests that the CV9035 (or an solved derivative) is what they intend to offer for the IFV component.
-
New one:
(https://fbcdn-sphotos-h-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-xfp1/v/t1.0-9/11889658_507153989443199_5513011010805886206_n.jpg?oh=5043e922c8f9c27c19b7e75113d4354b&oe=5678EB1F&__gda__=1450202518_b92ebcd92a0868a1695fa36a3661f8be)
And the real thing with a quite interesting camouflage:

Holy crap!!!! 1/72 P-61A, B, AND C Models!!!!!!!!! :o :o :o

Holy crap!!!! 1/72 P-61A, B, AND C Models!!!!!!!!! :o :o :o
I'm glad I didn't but an aftermarket kit to convert the Dragon kit. Toobad they didn't go the extra step and make an F-15 out of the C. Time to look up Logan's profiles!
On the armor side, lots of new inter-war kits, especially the Vickers and the Russian T-18/MS-1 variants; the Eastern Express kit is truly unbuildable. Looks like they're making a modern Panhard VBL as well.

You don't want to know how many Dragon P-61s and Lonestar conversion kits I have. :o
-
mostly ho-hum but I may get one of the 1/48th AN-2 Colts & the 350th Surcouf sub (just under 12½" long).
-
The Surcouf has been out for a few years and is pretty nice.
http://modelingmadness.com/review/misc/ships/fr/tmcsurcouf.htm (http://modelingmadness.com/review/misc/ships/fr/tmcsurcouf.htm)
Tom's final paragraph is a little odd as he was evidently unaware of the old Heller 1/400 kit. :-\
-
The Heller 1/400 version is very nice and the resin conning tower replacement is well done.
-
Sacre' Homard! A DANTON in 1/350th! ( One of my favorite Pre-dreadnoughts. )
-
Definitely getting the 1/48 Lavockhin La-11. Some other tasty treats in there, as well as a ton I have no interest in but know others will love.
-
I already have the almost identical La-9 in 1/48 so no interest from me.
BTW, would it be pedantic to point out that the photo used in their catalogue to portray the LA-11 is actually of a well known La-9... ;)
-
Tell me about it!!!! I'm VERY familiar with the La-9:

As soon as it started its taxi roll at Warbirds Over Wanaka 2004 I fell in love...

1/35 South African Rooikat.

1/35 South African Rooikat.
At first, I thought this was a cruel, late April Fool's joke...then I did a little searching.
Armorama has it listed as a Trumpeter kit, with a test shot: http://www.armorama.com/modules.php?op=modload&name=News&file=article&sid=22132 (http://www.armorama.com/modules.php?op=modload&name=News&file=article&sid=22132)
Also found this site: http://spruenews.blogspot.com/2016/04/trumpeter-rooikat.html (http://spruenews.blogspot.com/2016/04/trumpeter-rooikat.html)
Needless to say, yes, I will be getting one of these. I love wheeled AFVs!
MOD EDIT: Fixed the first link! ;)
Thanks!
So...who do I need to thank for buying the Baxmods or Aerografix Rooikat and starting on it? That's the only possible explanation for this being kitted in plastic.
-
Woohoo! Awesome news! (http://i107.photobucket.com/albums/m309/ChernayaAkula/Emoticons/worship.gif)
-
I would just like to take a moment to reflect on the 1/35 Resin version I already have...you can thank me later for this investment trigger.
-
I thank'ee, Greg. Someone had to take the hit unfortunately and I'm glad it wasn't me.
I look forward to the release of this kit. I'm in the market for at least two or three of them.
-
Yeah, thanks indeed, Greg! :icon_beer: Also for the ZSU-57-2.
Say... you' didn't get a Ratel, Eland or Casspir yet, did you? >:D
-

The sooner you build yours the sooner this one will hit the shelves.....
Just say'n........
-
You lot have all been noted for future punishment duties... C:-)
And don't get me started on the 1/35 G6 SPH I have already
-
I will definitely be buying one though whether it will ever be built or even started is open to debate, would look great as a RAAC 2 CAV vehicle in Iraq or Afghanistan for anyone who actually completes kits.
-
Say... you' didn't get a Ratel, Eland or Casspir yet, did you? >:D
Well, I have been thinking of a Ratel 90 and a Casspir...but I might make you wait

OK, I won't. ;)

Australia bought a handful of Mediums pre war to build an armoured cadre, a thought is had the earlier plans actually progressed to motorise and mechanise the Australian Amy there could have been a licence production deal and evolved versions could have been used operationally in the panic of 1941/2.

If interest,

Thanks for that! :)
I now have a new favourite line from a Google-translated page; "The rubber bum around the cannon was already more beautiful and wrinkled." ;D

New releases coming:
1/48 A-1B Trainer:
1/48 Su-17UM3 Fitter-G:

1/350 French Navy Strasbourg Battleship:
-
The AMX trainer was a contender for the RAAF LIFT program won by the Hawk and personally I can't wait for the (hopefully) inevidable 1/700 Strasbourg
-
The AMX trainer was a contender for the RAAF LIFT program won by the Hawk
Yep - would look good in any of these schemes too:
-
Are decals for those schemes available?
-
Generally yes, though it may require a purchase of a kit:
One can also try these:

Although neither of the latter two offer the same mix.
-
And of course the RAN version to support the retained fixed wing FAA capability in this scheme:
-
(http://www.kitmaker.net/photos/news/25933/595cab53ce1a1.jpg)
-
Hopefully the HobbyBoss ASU-57 will suck less than the AER/Eastern Express version. Or at least in different ways.
-
Interesting:

That ZTL-11 may find itself next to all of my other wheeled AFVs...

Something different - could be interesting to do as a non-British user during the '20s/'30s:

Who am I kidding? They'll ALL probably get added to the stash.

Leopard C1 MEXAS
This is the first Leopard 1 hull that Hobbyboss have tackled. Be interesting to see what becomes of it, as they are pretty decent at exploiting their tooling. Could it mean AEV, ARV, AVLB and other nation's MBT (Aussie AS-1?)
-
Interesting considering the RAAF never had F/A-18Cs:

They really, finally released this one? I'll have to keep on the lookout for one or two to add to the stash.
-
They're doing a Modern German Puma as well. Hot on the heels of Rye Field.

Interesting that they're listing an MV-22 in 1/48 (kit # 81769). If/when it's released I'll get at least one to put side-by-side with my collection of Italeri kits.

Ohhh...that Osprey is tempting indeed.

I saw in person the Hobby Boss 1/32 B-24D this morning. It has some major issues. A few observations.
The nose shape is all wrong. Instead of tapering down to the underside, it stays almost straight. From D on there is no inward taper.
The main landing gear is styrene and may not support the weight of the kit.
The rear turret is made in two pieces and will have seams on the and side. Top and ball turrets are okay.
The engines are 1 dimensional/shallow. 1/2 a cylinder against a blanking plate.
I suspect the aftermarket vendors will fix most issues but not the wrong nose shape.

Hello,
(https://up.picr.de/36549820sg.jpg)
The new Leopard kit includes an enginekit.

But why that? The enginedeck is closed. That makes no sense.
The new Meng Leo 1 has an open deck. But the chassis ist to small:
Another option: put on the Takom Bpz 2.

But honestly, the engine is not very well detailed, especially at the bottom half.

New MV/CV-22 from Hobbyboss has potential box art:

Not much else on their website:

Modelers on ARC are expecting it to be available in October.
I am more than willing to take those terrible, old, not-good-at-all Italeri V-22 off your hands to make room for this kit in your stashes.
Also, I'll get at least one of these myself for comparison.
-
At some point, the Italieri kit was updated to match the present V-22 configuration. I've seen one built that matches present-build aircraft quite well.

It appears that the HobbyBoss V-22 Osprey (http://www.hobbyboss.com/index.php?g=home&m=product&a=show&id=1583&l=en) is now available but the price will have you questioning the practicality of acquiring the kit...
HobbySearch (https://www.1999.co.jp/eng/) has it now listed as a pre-order item to be available in December: Hobby Boss (81769) 1:48th scale MV-22 Osprey (https://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10733371)
-
At that price, I'll need to have a lot of spare cash to throw around to consider buying it.
-
Just look of box art says pricey to me....
-
I can get at least 4 of the Italeri or Testors boxings for that price...
-
I can get at least 4 of the Italeri or Testors boxings for that price...
And, from what I've seen, they have updated their molds to accurately depict the MV-22B. At this point, I can't see committing the monies being asked for that kit.

At least doing an emu bob for brass after a range shoot with that thing would be relatively simple.
-
Just finished the 1/72 2S19 MSTA-S kit. Very nice, very crisp and petit detail. Went together well. Had a lot of fun with this kit.
Now working on their 1/35 XM706E2 Commando and it's completely the opposite. Heavy handed or missing detail, soft mouldings, simplistic engineering. Quite disappointing, really.
-
The new 1/48 MV-22 has been announced as released over on Aeroscale, with sprue images included:

Looks like you have the option of fully folding up the props/rotors and the wing...which almost justifies the reported price (@ $200USD)

Every time I see the Jackal platform.. A Post Apocalypse setting is screaming at me.
Providing weather conditions do not bother you at all that is.
-
...and you don't mind bugs in your face, or Bad Guys being so unsporting as to aim at your exposed face and torso instead of the armor plating.
Miniart has a series on T-60 kits with interior (and probably fewer errors and easier to build...) so I don't see the attraction of the Hobby Boss kit.

Why do all the latest crop of vehicles like this, always appear top-heavy ? Am I missing something ?
As an aside, in another thread (maybe here or another forum), I was looking at a manufacturer's catalogue someone had linked to, and I can buy these in 1/72 scale -- I just can't remember now where I saw that.
-
I was going to say Airfix, but their Jackal and Coyote are in 1/48th.

As an aside, in another thread (maybe here or another forum), I was looking at a manufacturer's catalogue someone had linked to, and I can buy these in 1/72 scale -- I just can't remember now where I saw that.
S&S Models offer a Jackal 1 DPV in 1/72 for £10.00
-- https://sandsmodels.com/product/172-jackal-1-dpv/ or
EagleNest3D offer a Supacat Jackal 1 HMWP in 1/72nd.
That S&S DPV acronym is new to me. I'm guessing 'Desert Patrol Vehicle' or some such.
The Supacat HMT 400 has been referred to as a 'High Mobility Weapons Platform' (as per EagleNest3D) or, more often, as having a 'Mobility Weapon-Mounted Installation Kit' - so Jackal MWMIK. Some sources call the S&S kit a 'Jackal WMIK' (which acronym belongs with the Land Rover).

Thanks Stephen, I had found the S&S ones, but I thought the ones I'd seen were injection and there wasn't just the Jackal.

Flory Models has a video unboxing/review of the MV-22 offering from Hobbyboss:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2xSVSXf8soI (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2xSVSXf8soI)
It still seems a bit pricey, but I think I'll have to get one, just to build it all folded up?
-
I was just about to post the same video llink. :)
Yeah, kit has extra rotor parts to do the whole folded rotor thing in addition to displaying with all rotors in flight position. Kind of neat but yes, also expensive. If the price drops then I could be swayed to find a home for a pair of these kits.

Trumpeter's Facebook page has the Trumpeter/HobbyBoss/ I Love kit 2023 news! I tried linking it, but it will only display as a f**ked-up link - :uuu: - that will then need you to sign up (yeah, no, thanks, Zuck) >:D ! I guess googling for Trumpeter Facebook will yield a workable result.
Hobby Boss will have a 1/35 LAV-300 with 90mm turret! 8) Whoa! That was unexpected. VERY welcome, tho.
They're also extending their line of 1/48 tanks with kits of Leo 2A4, Leo 2 A5/6, Leo 2 A6EX (Tamiya, what were you waiting for?), T-72B3, T-90 and S-Tank!
In 1/72 I'm excited for the Smerch, Dana SPH, Tochka (not for the prices, though) as well as the TBD-1 Devastator and TBM-3 Avenger.

Damn, that's something like three times the price of the Italieri kit, though you have to be careful with the Italieri kit as it went through a refresh at some point and the engine nacelles got updated from those of the FSD V-22A to full production V-22B engine nacelles - and there are some very distinct differences driven by fixes from the early-on crashes. I've seen a "refreshed" italieri kit built up and it does have the production nacelles - the oil cooler scoop on the outboard back end is a mejor sign of the production nacelle. Minor tidbit - the aft end of that scoop is just an aerodynamic fairing that extends aft of the back edge of the hatch it's on, had to trim one back for a peculiar test program.

Interesting. It'd need another set of antenna mounts.
I note the MG3 mounted. I kind of assumed that C6s would be used but, it occurs to me, I don't think I've ever seen an image of a CF Büffel with a GPMG fitted.
Next thought is: Is there a Wisent 2 in 1/35th?

I'm fine on the resin front, it's just another kit I'm going to have to find a hiding place in the Wombat Stash for. 8)
